Nurses are the backbone of healthcare. As the population of patients continues to grow, so does the need for highly qualified nurses and nurse leaders who can provide quality care and promote positive health outcomes. OnwardHealthcare recently named Boston the #1 city for nurses, citing a high quality of life, many and varied job opportunities, amenities, nursing salaries, cost of living and the city’s personality as a whole. Boston is also home to many of the state’s Magnet® hospitals—a designation awarded to just eight

percent of U.S. institutions by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for demonstrating a “hard-earned commitment to excellence in health care, with contented nurses at its heart.” Emmanuel’s home in the Longwood Medical and Academic Area (LMA) affords convenient access and developing partnerships with neighborhood institutions such as Harvard Medical School, Boston Children’s Hospital*, Brigham & Women’s Hospital*, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute* and Joslin Diabetes Center. *Magnet® status Emmanuel College

Emmanuel’s nursing program prepares students to be generalists in the nursing field. Every nursing student will have clinical experiences across nursing specialties including medical surgical, mental health, pediatrics, maternity/women’s health and community nursing. The program culminates in the Nursing Capstone, during which each student will work one-on-one with a practicing registered nurse—a rich experience made possible by our location in the Longwood Medical and Academic Area and longstanding relationships with premier Boston hospitals.

Knowing that I am meant to be at Emmanuel College, and in this program, has rid me of any uncertainties I had leaving high school and entering college.
