Emmanuel professors are outstanding scholars. More importantly, they’re collaborators and advisors who are sincerely interested in what and how you think and are fully committed to your ultimate success.
With movements such as Black Lives Matter and #MeToo shining a light on systemic inequalities, corporate stakeholders are looking for organizations to commit to actionable plans to increase diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF MANAGEMENT DR. KELLY BASILE AND MANAGEMENT MAJOR RYAN ARISIAN ’24 began researching DEI targets as a part of executive compensation, as well as metrics such as employee diversity, board diversity and managerial diversity and firm performance to answer the question: Do corporations who tie executive compensation to DEI targets perform better on DEI outcomes and overall, have better firm performance?

At Emmanuel, service takes many forms—from college-wide days of service and summer service fellowships, to service-oriented clubs and organizations.
For many students, it’s a call to live life more purposefully. They engage in social justice initiatives around ethical business and poverty alleviation as part of their coursework and go on to establish purposeful careers in management, education, government, and non-profit organizations or as entrepreneurs serving the greater good.

LIVING THE Mission
“At Emmanuel, I learned I could work toward social justice in many ways. Through classes like Food Policy and Social Justice, I found that my sociology major would guide me to a life working for food justice. Alternative Spring Break trips to Phoenix and New Orleans taught me that food is involved in every social justice issue in some way. I’m excited to be continuing my education to learn how to enhance the food system socially, culturally and economically.”
