TIP-UP TIME IS HERE!

The cold weather is here to stay and just in time for tip-up festivals to kick-off in Hillsdale County.

The 13th Annual Litchfield Tip-Up, an annual fundraiser to benefit Litchfield Community Schools, is first on the schedule for the weekend of Jan. 21-23 and includes hunting, trapping, and ice-fishing competitions.

The Tip-Up Raffle & Party will take place this year back at L&J Lanes on Homer Road, just south of Litchfield with fish boards and trapping boards displayed throughout the weekend at Litchfield Outdoors in town. For more information and a detailed schedule, find Litchfield Outdoors on Facebook.

This year’s conservation club tip-up has been designated in Steve Ginolfi’s name. Ginolfi has been a big part of past tip-up festivals and his breakfast buffet has been one of many highlights of the weekend, which typically includes a fishing contest, coyote hunt, and a kids’ fishing derby at the conservation club lake.

The Reading Area Tip-Up, sponsored by the Reading American Legion Post #360, is scheduled for Feb. 5-6 and includes a weekend-long fishing contest, as well as hunting and trapping contests that have yielded decent coyote harvests in recent years.
