DocMartins — WHERE FEET STOP HURTING!
By Melissa McCance
Feet might be the most underappreciated part of our bodies. These intricate, complicated structures are designed to bear our weight for a lifetime, endlessly adjusting to changes in pace and gait, pivoting and bracing as needed. We can plant them firmly on the ground or move them lightly across the dance floor. Because of all they do, when something goes wrong with our feet, it can affect our lives significantly. Whether the problem is the result of injury, infection, congenital anomaly, diabetes, or other cause, Dr. Darryl Martins and his staff at DocMartins Foot & Ankle Clinics have been ready for the past 11 years to correct the issue and restore your best possible level of functioning.
Dr. Martins and his associate Dr. Danniyal Shahid are board certified/ qualified foot and ankle surgeons. The two provide care at the three clinics which are located in Jackson, Adrian, and Ann Arbor. All three clinics are open six days a week. The practice is a designated Patient-Centered Medical Home Neighbor (PCMH-n), Tier I provider, and participates with numerous insurances. Both providers have full admission and surgical privileges at Henry Ford Allegiance Health (Jackson), ProMedica Hickman (Adrian), and St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea hospitals which allows patients to go where they are most comfortable.
The primary focus of the practice is to get patients taken care of as soon as possible. Referrals from a primary care provider are not needed but are accepted, and same or next day appointments mean that people with urgent conditions can be seen promptly. Evening appointments are also available. “One thing that stands out about our practice is our availability. We help people avoid having to visit the ER or urgent care. Not only does it mean patients don’t have to wait, but this helps lower the cost of care and eases some of the burden for the primary care provider, ERs, and urgent care clinics. Plus, with some conditions, waiting can increase the possibility of infection setting in,” explains Dr. Martins.
Another convenience provided by the clinics is that they are “one-stop shops.” First, you will see the doctor every time, from wound care, pre and They are also one of the few clinics in Michigan that offer Medical Pedicures which are customized for your needs using medical grade instruments. This pedicure includes shaping, filing, and buffing the nails along with callus maintenance and a moisturizing treatment by a licensed nail nurse. This treatment is ideal for individuals looking for a sterile, professional, and hygienic treatment and are concerned about infections at the typical nail place.
post op surgical care we feels creating and maintaining a patient doctor relationship is crucial in patient positive outcome. Custom orthotics, braces, diabetic shoes, wound care supplies, and other related items are available at the clinics and with most insurance covered. Most people are very busy these days and not having to make multiple stops after the appointment to purchase necessary or recommended supplies saves time, energy, and patience!
