Mark & I met in Cavan town in January 2008, on a night out with friends. As soon as we met we hit it off & the rest is history as they say! It was love at first sight. We went on a romantic dinner for our first date. .. Mark proposed on 31st July 2010 at Cabra Castle, Co. Cavan. We went for a walk around the beautiful gardens of Cabra Castle and sure and all I turned around to find Mark down on one knee. It was a wonderful day & amazing surprise, as I was led to believe we were going for a family dinner, but realised Mark had other plans for us. We had dinner there & then broke the good news to our family & friends that evening.
Marriage Application In order to apply for a Marriage Application (Request for the Publication of Banns) you must complete Form RZ1 and submit it to the Marriage Registry in Valetta or Gozo together with the documentation listed below.
After all the engagement celebrations we decided that we wanted a smaller more intimate wedding day & decided on a wedding abroad. So we did some research on weddings abroad & looked at all our options regarding different aspects of weddings abroad- language barriers, food, and legal side of marriages abroad etc. This is when we realised that Malta ticked all the boxes for us. We then decided to book a holiday to Malta the year before our wedding date & see the island before we committed to anything. We loved everything about Malta- the food, people, location & most of all the weather. Once we decided this was where we wanted to get married we contacted Sarah Young, who kindly agreed to be our wedding planner.
This applies to both civil and religious marriages. The application must be received at least 6 weeks prior to the date of your proposed marriage but no more than 3 months before. On arriving in Malta prior to your wedding you are required to visit the Marriage Registry in Valetta or Gozo to finalise matters. At this visit you will be required to produce your passports.
We got married in Lapsi Church; St. Julian’s & had our sit down reception at a Castello on the 3rd June 2012 Sunday, followed by a BBQ at a lovely 5 star resort on the Monday and on the 3rd day had a lovely pizza and pasta night out to end our lovely wedding celebrations with our guests. We had 87 guests in total. From day one Sarah was amazing. She listened to everything we wanted & nothing was a problem. She was so helpful & when we needed some advice Sarah would give us her professional opinion & advice on different aspects of our wedding day, but always reminded us it was our decision at the end of the day. Sarah is a perfectionist & every little detail was perfect on the day. She was very professional & no matter when I emailed her or her team, they would get back to me within minutes, she was contactable 24/7 from day one, right through to the actual wedding day & the days following on from our wedding. Why we choose Malta for your wedding; it was perfect, only 3.5 hours flight from Ireland. Malta has everything- the weather, beautiful churches, amazing venues & suppliers (through Sarah). Our venue was a stunning Castello so private & unique. It’s a small castle that we had all to ourselves on the big day, I felt like a princess in a castle. Sarah had taken us to see this venue previously & explained how everything would look & flow on the day. Words cannot describe our day, it was truly amazing, the best day of our lives & we couldn’t have done it without Sarah- she is the best wedding planner in Malta without doubt! We had the most wonderful day humanly possible. We will always keep a small place for Malta in our hearts & will never forget our magical wedding day. We enjoyed every minute of the week leading up to & our wedding day. Without Sarah we would not have had our dream wedding.
