REAL LIFE WEDDING
Shereen& Toks 10th July 2010
The Villa, St Julians, Malta We talked to Shereen & Toks about their big day. When and how did you meet? First met at the library of the Hammersmith and West London college in 1995, where we both studying for A’Levels. When was the proposal and how did it go? This took place on a flight to Portugal in 2006.I got the pilot of the plane to announce this whilst enroute, and then I got down on one knee, albeit very tight between the flight seats, and asked Shireen if she would marry me, for which she gladly said “yes”. After that we had everyone around our seats come over to us to say congratulations , which was also very very nice. How long did it take to plan the wedding and who was involved? We employed the services of Sarah Young as the wedding planner, based in Malta. We travelled to Malta in April 2009 to have our first meeting with Sarah and Lisa and to for them show us around the venues they had shortlisted for us. After agreeing on a date and the venue, Sarah and co went about arranging everything else for the day ranging from the photographer, the violinist, the cake, the bouquet, literally everything we needed on the day. So it was a case of us just showing up on the day of the wedding. However, we did meet them for one last meeting on the day prior to the wedding just to go over the last details and to ensure that everything was as we had discussed over the previous months.
What was the most stressful thing in the planning of the wedding? The most stressful thing was anxiety more than stress, in the hope that everything goes according to plan on the day. Sarah Young certainly took away all the stress throughout the whole planning process, as we never had to chase anyone up for anything really. How did the day go? The day was absolutely perfect, we couldn’t have wished for a better day. What is the best piece of advice you can give to other couple’s planning their wedding? Employing the services of Sarah Young as wedding planner was one of the best things we did. As she ensured that the day went by without a glitch. Even though we were based out in the UK, communication between us couldn’t have been any better, responses to our emails was so prompt and accurate. All questions were answered efficiently. We were kept abreast of any developments throughout the whole wedding planning and right up until the day of the wedding She and her team ensured we had no worries whatsoever. We cant thank Sarah Young enough, as she ensured our special day was special, and a day we will always live to remember and cherish.
