After months of diligent planning and careful curation of every last little detail, along with the growing excitement of friends and family all coming together to celebrate the occasion, one grows more eager than ever for the dreamlike day to arrive. Truly, time spent planning a wedding is one of the most extraordinary times, and such a celebratory occasion is certainly worthy of all the anticipation it receives for months while planning and of all the surreal memories that will linger for a lifetime. For us, it is such an honor to play a small part in commemorating the day for so many couples whose weddings are featured in the magazine. You’ll find Austin’s best featured on every page with beautiful color collaborations beginning on page 97, tasty treats from local dessert mavens on page 18 and decadent dishes from Austin culinary experts on page 145. We’ve profiled four of Austin’s top wedding planners to find out more about what makes them industry experts, and if you’re looking for entertainment — look no further than page 156 to get your party started. Plus, you won’t want to miss our fashion spread – Vivid Beauty on page 68 - with over a dozen pages of fashion-forward gowns and accessories sourced from phenomenal, local bridal boutiques. Finally, scouting venues and making that all important venue decision has never been easier! in downtown Bryan, minutes away from their college campus. It was a meaningful place to them where they had their first date at a restaurant and art gallery. When they arrived downtown, Grayson parked and started leading Emily in a different direction from the restaurant. Emily’s curiosity was building as they entered an old concrete building with brick walls and a vintage tile ceiling. It was illuminated in candlelight and splashed with roses and photos of the couple over their two years together. As she took in the memories of each memento, Emily remembers thinking, “It would be cool if I got engaged here tonight.” They sat down on a couch with a box waiting for Emily to open, a tradition Grayson started to capture all of their memories together. Like the box she received the year before with a number “1” on it, this one had a number “2” for their second anniversary. She anxiously opened the box, and a beaming smile spread across her face as she thoughtfully sifted through cards, old ticket stubs, and photos. When she got to the last card at the very bottom of the box, it was dated “February 17, 2017.” She opened it, and her heart skipped a beat. It said, “Today is the day I ask you to marry me.” “When I looked up, Gray was on one knee, and of course I said ‘yes!’” Emily remembers. They kissed and hugged and shared pizza together surrounded by candlelight. That intimate moment was followed by Grayson’s parents showing up to surprise them in person and a celebration with several close friends at the restaurant where they had their first date. “I was so happy we got to have an intimate proposal followed by seeing the people we love the most,” Emily says. The couple had a specific ambiance in mind when it came to planning their big day. They wanted a classic setting filled with flowers and plenty of decadent food. “People love eating!” the couple joked when discussing their wedding day priorities. One Eleven East in Hutto was the perfect timeless yet modern and urban backdrop. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, its location was ideal tucked just enough away from bustling Austin and oozing with warm Texas charm. Having debated whether to elope at one point, the couple couldn’t have been happier with their decision to host 100 of their closest friends and relatives in the Austin area. On December 2, 2017, One Eleven East was transformed by noon for the romantic celebration. Emily and her bridesmaids enjoyed sushi and Starbucks coffee in the bridal suite, while Grayson had breakfast with his dad and spent time with his groomsmen and ushers. When they all arrived at the venue, nerves were beginning to set in for the bride and groom. “We

the rest of the evening and just enjoyed the excitement of the engagement. That next weekend, Holliday’s parents threw the newly engaged couple a surprise engagement party in Houston. Since Holliday was completely surprised by the proposal, she hadn’t thought about what she wanted for her dream wedding. Luckily, she was able to lean on wedding planner Megan Metzger from Pearl Events Austin to help create a vision for her June wedding. “I really wanted different experiences throughout the wedding,” Holliday said. “In addition to the dance floor, I wanted to incorporate different areas with unique experiences for people to congregate.” The couple decided on the Omni Barton Creek Resort for their ceremony and reception and liked that it was a onestop venue for their out of town guests. Knowing that weddings can be expensive, Holliday said she wanted to make sure some of their décor could be used again. The couple helped design a “Cheers” neon sign that sat above their martini bar at the reception. The martini bar was completely made of ice and had the couple’s initials monogrammed on the front. The “Cheers” sign now sits above the bar in their home. Other fun personal elements of the wedding included an all-floral cross displayed during the ceremony, a photo booth that included a 360-degree video feature, and surprise confetti cannons that were set off during the dance portion of the reception. Friendships are very important to David and Holliday so they made sure to include all of the special people for their big day. About a month before the wedding, the couple replaced the reverend they had hired and instead had an old family friend marry them. Holliday’s dad had a best friend from elementary school nicknamed “Speedy” who joked about marrying the couple and decided to get ordained at the last minute. Holliday asked David’s niece to be the flower girl and David asked Holliday’s younger brother to be his best man and chose a large wedding party made up of groomsmen and ushers. Holliday’s bridal party was filled with friends and sorority sisters. Her maid of honor married her own high school sweetheart and attended the same elementary and high school as David and Holliday. The couple wanted to make sure that everyone invited to the wedding had as much fun. “It was a celebration of all of us and all the people that have been involved in our lives since we were in elementary school,” Holliday said. “It was incredibly meaningful to have everyone that has known us for so long and watched us grow, join us in the celebration.” Holliday says one of her favorite moments was spending the morning watching the venue, the ceremony and reception area get set up with her mom and a few bridesmaids.

in July on a Thursday night.” Kellen used the skyline of Manhattan as his backdrop and proposed on the roof of their apartment. Holtby, the couple's beloved dog, was also there to celebrate. Since Kristen and Kellen had talked about getting engaged before the actual proposal, they already had a venue booked for June 10, 2017. They took the first opening available at Barr Mansion - the perfect place for their classic summer garden wedding. The couple liked that the venue made all of their food organic and many ingredients were grown on property. “We wanted to get married in a place where there were a lot of life and plants around so that’s what we liked about Barr Mansion,” Kellen said. “They had the big tree that we could get married under and there were a lot of things growing on the premise so we were happy about that.” The couple focused on good photography and great food for their big day along with overall logistics to create an amazing experience for their guests. “It was more important to us that people walk away from the wedding saying ‘I had such a great time’ than ‘That was the most beautiful wedding I’ve ever seen’” Kellen said. “We really just wanted to put on a great party where everybody would have a lot of fun.” Part of the overall experience included making sure that everybody was comfortable in the Texas heat. Drinks and fans were provided before the ceremony to make sure guests weren’t too hot. Extra bartenders were hired so nobody waited too long for drinks and food was served family style to avoid long lines. Kristen and Kellen agree that one of their favorite parts of the wedding was the champagne tower set up for the reception. They thought it was a unique feature and liked that it was easily accessible from the dance floor. Since Holtby was an important part of their initial bonding as a couple, Kristen and Kellen agreed that he should have the royal treatment on their wedding day. The couple hired a personal dog attendant from The Pet Gal who made sure Holtby was well fed and walked him around to mingle during the cocktail hour before taking him home. The couple liked that the vendor was able to take care of the dog so that the responsibility didn’t have to fall on a family member or friend. Kristen said that Holtby practically stole the show when he walked down the aisle and stood with the groomsmen during the ceremony. The couple decided to wait until the walk down the aisle to see each other for the first time, but Kristen did catch a glimpse of Kellen while relaxing in the bridal suite. She saw him arriving at the venue with his family and

relatives to hike through the park to the pool. Not everything was perfectly smooth, however. The security guard was thrown off that Cameron and his group were waiting at the front gate before the park opened and thought they were trespassing! Fortunately, Cameron was able to explain their early arrival to set up his proposal scene. “On a normal day I would’ve thought the whole ordeal was hilarious, but on this morning it just made me realize how nervous I was,” he remembers. Once everyone hiked the trail to the grotto at Hamilton Pool, they found hiding places while Cameron waited for Kate to arrive. About a half hour later, Kate traipsed through the historic beauty with her friend and sister. She was shocked to see Cameron waiting there by the water. That was when he asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. Kate was thrilled and responded with a heartfelt “yes” through a huge smile. The couple celebrated with about 40 additional family members and friends (another surprise) over dinner that night. Kate and Cameron jumped right into wedding planning. They knew they wanted to get married in Austin where they met. Kate was raised Catholic and knew the historic Saint Mary Cathedral in downtown Austin was the perfect place for the ceremony. For the reception, the couple wanted something grand yet charming. “We loved how ‘Texas’ The Driskill Hotel was. It was elegant and close to Saint Mary’s,” Kate says. With a 15-month engagement, the couple had plenty of time to work with Pearl Events Austin and their other vendors to design their dream wedding. After the July 4th holiday in 2017 loved ones traveled to Austin for another round of fireworks as the wedding festivities began. The wedding party was greeted with a warm Texas welcome at the rehearsal dinner at the Headliners Club inside Chase Tower with its beautiful views of downtown Austin. With the lights twinkling through the panoramic windows of the 21st floor, loved ones toasted the bride and groom and shared stories and laughs well into the night. On the morning of the wedding, both sides of the wedding party were up early and getting ready for the 2 p.m. ceremony. Cameron and his groomsmen put on their tuxedos, ate lunch and took pictures at the Driskill. Kate, her bridesmaids, and the mothers got their hair and makeup done together in a suite. Kate had bought her bridesmaids matching pajamas, and they enjoyed spending the morning sipping coffee, savoring breakfast tacos, and taking turns in the makeup chair. Once inside the massive wooden doors of Saint Mary Cathedral, just under 200 friends

loved the simplicity of this tablescape, allowing the centerpiece to really shine. I had a vision of an organic free-flowing arrangement with vines growing out and down the length of the table, and Clementine Botanical Art delivered in such a big way! I wanted the palette to be vibrant and colorful, while still feeling whimsical and romantic. I wanted to create something that felt light and airy, so we opted for the oversized Silk and Willow linen with extra fabric billowing at either end. To bring a contemporary feel to the tablescape we opted for clean white chairs and simple place settings.

onceptualizing the wedding design is my absolute favorite part of the planning process, because it allows me to be truly creative. While there are definite stylistic consistencies in my work, one of the things I love most about design is that no two weddings I design look the same. I love really exploring the bride and groom’s style and personality to create an atmosphere that is truly unique to them. I’ve designed dark and moody and vibrant fiesta all in one season, and that is one of the things that I love most about my work! Variety and creativity is at the heart of what we do, creating truly personal, one-of-a-kind weddings.

T here were so many details to fall in love with from

Nick and Brianne’s wedding at Prospect House, though my favorite detail was the lounge vignette turned photo op. Nick and Brianne were married at their church, but they wanted to be sure that the picturesque ceremony space at Prospect House didn’t go unnoticed, so we decided to turn it into a photo op for guests. In lieu of a traditional photo booth, we used the existing ceremony structure to frame the shot, adding in vintage textiles, furnishings and floral accents to create a picturesque backdrop for guests to snap photos all night long. It was a huge hit, and made for some great photos!

love that florals are moving in such an organic direction, and that clients are thinking beyond the tablescape in regards to botanical elements. I am a big fan of statement pieces, and love the idea of focusing budget on major botanical installations and taking a more simplistic approach on tablescapes. It’s a brilliant way to have that “wow” element, while keeping the budget in check.

We chose varying shades of soft aqua and mint and in order to make it pop, added in fabrics and design details with pattern and texture. It was important to me to keep the tones quiet but I wanted to incorporate some unexpected detail and dimension, which I hope we accomplished through the stripes and patterns of the fabrics and finishes!

With more than a decade of spinning experience at his fingertips, DJ Gatsby knows the importance of creating the soundtrack for a couple’s wedding day. DJ Gatsby loves meeting with clients for their musical guidance and preferences and then pulling songs from his own library that he believes will be the perfect complement. During the celebration, DJ Gatsby analyzes the crowd and what they gravitate toward musically to keep the party momentum going all night. The end product for each gig is what he likes to call “a knitted live musical quilt” that his clients will always remember.

egan’s coworker knew she would be a great match for his friend Robert. Turns out – he was right! Their friend secretly set up the couple to meet on a group bike ride in Austin. They both had no idea the setup was happening, but Megan and Robert quickly hit it off. After the bike ride, he asked for her number and they were soon inseparable. A few years later, Megan and Robert met up with a friend to go on a morning run down Shoal Creek. Unlike past runs, Robert had set up a little pit stop – a proposal! While running, Megan spotted signs from Robert lining their path asking her to marry him. Completely surprised, they veered to the side of the path where he knelt down. It was an intimate spot and Megan loved that he chose to include a hobby they like doing together as a way to propose. li and August first met at a social gathering during orientation week at Purdue University. They exchanged numbers and were able to connect further during a class they shared – which happened to be chemistry. Soon, August asked Ali out for sushi and since then, they have spent almost every day together. After college, Ali and August made the decision to move to Houston for their careers. Before that, they planned an unforgettable backpacking trip through Europe. On a beautiful, fall Parisian day, the couple was enjoying a walk along the Seine. As evening approached, they decided to get dinner at a bistro near the Eiffel Tower. August surprised Ali with dessert of macaroons and wine on the Eiffel Tower lawn. When out on the lawn and as the tower began to sparkle, he got down on one knee, pulled a ring from his pocket and asked her to marry him! aylor was in her final year of nursing school at the University of Texas when she met Alan who had just returned home from his first deployment to Afghanistan. They quickly developed a friendship that grew into a relationship. Soon, Alan was sent to Missouri for grad school so the couple began dating long-distance. After grad school, he had his second deployment to Afghanistan. Taylor stayed up late to talk to him on the phone and showered him with care packages. When he came back to the States, she moved to Louisville, Kentucky, to live with him. They had a great year experiencing the city! To celebrate Taylor’s birthday, the couple usually takes a trip. On this birthday, Alan talked her into spending it at her parent’s house in East Texas. He invited her to join him for a walk around the golf course to which she resisted because of the summer heat. On the walk, he dropped to one knee and said he wanted to spend every birthday with her for the rest of their lives. She excitedly said yes and the pair celebrated with their families. ara and David’s mutual friend thought the pair would make a good couple. With that in mind, their friend arranged for a group outing that turned into latenight cocktails. The group met the next morning for pho. A few nights later, Tara and David went on their first date that was the beginning of their staple sushi, sake and pho. After dating for two years, Tara and David embarked on building a house together. All the while, David had plans to propose during their first moments in their new home. When they finally closed, Tara had just returned from a work trip and had lots of work to complete. Not wanting to take off, David thought fast and reached out to her boss who sent her home. As planned, they entered their home to a beautiful scene – rose petals, hundreds of candles, photos of the couple, flowers and champagne. David got down on one knee and asked Tara to marry him. After excitedly saying yes, the couple spent the next few hours eating sushi and drinking champagne. ean and Jonathan’s paths crossed after a University of Texas football game. A year later, they started hanging out more and became close friends. Jonathan officially asked Jean to be his girlfriend at a Turnpike Troubadours concert soon after and the rest is history. Jonathan thoughtfully planned a proposal where everything first started – in their favorite city, Austin. The couple drove to Austin where the first surprise was a massage and manicure. After a relaxing spa day, he again surprised her with a beautiful hotel suite. Jonathan proposed to Jean later that day overlooking Lake Austin on Mount Bonnell, which was one of the first places they had connected. The pair excitedly celebrated with dinner at Perla’s. To top off the wonderful day, Jonathan surprised Jean again by hosting a surprise engagement party with friends and family who had traveled from across the country to celebrate the couple! hen Leah boarded her plane from Midland to Houston, she noticed a guy on her flight. Surprisingly, she saw the same guy the following week while out with friends. Taylor introduced himself and the two shared great conversation that led to many more. The couple was vacationing in Cancún with friends when they planned on meeting up on the beach to release baby sea turtles. As they walked down to the lobby, Leah didn’t see any of their friends, but didn’t think much of it. When they reached the sand, she noticed something spelled out with rose petals – Taylor had spelled out, “Will you marry me?” Leah excitedly said yes as their friends were waiting nearby taking photos of the couple and preparing to celebrate! Looking back at their wedding day, it went by quickly. Leah and Taylor cherished doing a first look with one another to calm their nerves before saying I do. KRISTIN NELSON & CRAIG LANE

K

ristin and Craig’s story began at a University of Georgia vs. Auburn football game in Athens, Georgia. A mutual friend introduced them and Craig discovered it was Kristin’s first college football game. Despite the game being sold out, Craig was determined to get Kristin in. Luckily, he found a stadium employee who snuck them in and she was quickly struck by his southern charm. UGA won the game and the rest was history in the making. The couple had been wanting to experience a small vineyard near their house in Grapevine, so Craig set up a date night. After they arrived at the vineyard and got wine, they walked outside to check out the vineyard and eat grapes straight off the vine. Walking through the vineyard, Kristin saw a huge bouquet of flowers and turned to Craig who was down on one knee proclaiming his love for her and asking her to marry him! The couple happily celebrated into the night with Kristin’s family. Other Local Vendors: Complete Weddings + Events • Terra Vista Strings • Double Knot Pictures • Much Ado Austin

n a summer night in Chicago, Annie and Andrew were brought into one another’s lives while at a mutual friend’s birthday party – one of which neither had planned on attending. Late in the evening, a request was made that Andrew get cocktails for Annie and her best friend. He obliged and also got Annie’s number. Soon after, he asked her on a date. Five years later, the couple has moved from Chicago to Austin, traveled the world together and both changed careers. Annie and Andrew were in Barcelona for a friend’s wedding. Upon arriving to their hotel suite, Annie opened the door to a room full of flowers, balloons and champagne – she thought they had opened someone else’s door! Andrew ushered her inside the room, got down on one knee and gave her a sparkling ring he was able to conceal the previous week in France! The elated pair celebrated afterward with friends. hen Jared needed a date for a fraternity function, a mutual friend introduced him to Emily. The pair had dinner on the roof of his apartment building that overlooks Baylor University’s campus. They hit things off, went to the date party together and the rest is history! On a chilly January afternoon, Jared invited Emily to watch the sun set at their spot overlooking Lake Waco. Because they visited the spot often, she didn’t think this was anything but normal. The chilly winter temps kept Emily in the car when they first arrived, which gave Jared time to set up his camera “to shoot photos of the sunset.” When Emily joined him, Jared asked her to get in some of the photos. Distracted by the scenery, she didn’t realize he was down on one knee! Completely shocked, she shed tears of joy and excitedly said yes. Their excitement quickly made them forget about the chilly January weather. arolyn and Jordan met online and hit things off on their first date at Down House in Houston, which happens to be her favorite eatery. After that date, they both knew that they had met someone special. Carolyn and Jordan went on three dates over the next week and the rest is history. Jordan proposed to Carolyn at home with a ring that features a diamond that belonged to his mother. She was truly touched to wear a priceless family heirloom. On the day of their wedding, they were both sick – but they powered through on adrenaline and with support of family and friends. Looking back, they don’t remember being ill but they do remember their gorgeous day in the colorful Hill Country. Carolyn and Jordan credit planner Lindsay Meier with Bespoke Events for their unforgettable experience. Another treasure from their day was the participation of their black Labrador, Scout. Scout walked down the aisle with the flower girls, patiently listened to the nuptials and then enjoyed a dip in the fountain. mily and David met while in college in North Carolina. The art majors had classes together and quickly became friends. They got to know each other during long bike rides through the streets of Greensboro. Over the years together, they lived in New York City, adopted a Great Pyrenees puppy, traveled to numerous countries and ran a half-marathon together. The couple now happily call Austin home. One fall morning, Emily, David and their pup set out on a secluded hike through the Barton Creek Greenbelt. Not long into the hike, they took a wrong turn and got completely lost. Determined to see the outlook at the end of the trail, they finally got on the right path. When they reached the end, they were the only ones on the hill and got to take in the beautiful view. As they were gazing, David asked Emily if she needed a drink of water. Taken off guard, she turned to see him down on one knee! mily and Derek met through church while attending Texas A&M University. Eventually, they grew closer and he asked her out on a date. They became inseparable! After spending a summer in Belgium serving Syrian refugees, Emily came home to relax with family in Austin while Derek was in College Station – or so she thought. She and her family enjoyed a dinner that seemed a little rushed, but Emily didn’t think much of it. As they were driving over the 360 Bridge, her dad suggested they walk up to look out at the lake. Walking up to the bridge, Emily noticed a table complete with candles and flowers just as her family slowly disappeared. Confused, her father escorted her to the top where Derek was waiting. He read a heartfelt letter to her and then popped the question. Emily excitedly said yes, and they enjoyed a bottle of champagne and talked about the days to come. athryn and Chris met through an online dating site while living in New York. They made plans to meet for drinks before she met up with her family for a hockey game. The pair hit things off and ended up going on three more dates that same week. The rest is pretty much history! When Cathryn’s sister let it slip that Chris had secured the ring, Cathryn was looking forward to the proposal. The couple was enjoying a bus tour to different Long Island wineries when she subtly suggested they were in the perfect setting to get engaged. Thwarting her plans, Chris said he wanted to surprise her. On the second winery, he asked someone to take their photo in a gazebo where he shocked her by getting down on one knee! Cathryn and Chris celebrated their new engagement at a beautiful winery with a live band. atlyn was a freshman at Texas State University enjoying sorority life and all the traditions that come with it. One of which was decorating coolers for dates, a tradition where Greek women paint a cooler and fill it with goodies any guy would love. Artistic and driven, she began decorating coolers for friends that quickly turned into a bustling Etsy business. Through her business, she connected with a customer named Dylan. Their friendship developed over the years despite her living in Texas and him in Florida. When the timing in their lives was right, they met in person in Orange, Texas. They both knew right away and started dating that night! Three years later, Dylan planned a romantic dinner at the Tower of the Americas in San Antonio. Prior to dinner, they were taking in the scenic views around the restaurant when Katlyn looked back at Dylan who was down on one knee. She couldn’t say, “Yes,” fast enough! hen Andrew transferred into Melissa’s history classes during high school, there was one open seat right behind her. The pair knew of each other because they both were involved in sports and soon grew to be close friends. After high school, the couple dated long-distance while she went to Baylor University, and he went to the University of Texas and then Colorado School of Mines for graduate school. After Andrew’s first year of grad school, the pair wanted to celebrate. First, he stopped by Melissa’s house with their favorite Sonic drinks in hand. She had barely started sipping her drink when he suggested they get predinner drinks at Los Cucos, the restaurant where he first asked her to be his girlfriend. They enjoyed margaritas inside as a torrential downpour stormed outside. Next, was dinner at Carrabba’s, another sentimental place for them. Finally, they left and Andrew pulled over near his house. In the pouring rain, he got down on one knee and asked Melissa to marry him. Their families were hiding nearby and were ready to celebrate! enna and Nick met at a high school tailgate before a football game. She knew he played for their high school’s soccer team and when she asked him about his upcoming playoff game, Nick, in an effort to impress her, told Jenna he would score a goal for her. The next week, Nick scored the game-winning goal! The relationship blossomed from that moment and they have been together since. Nick gathered more than 50 of their family and friends for a flash mob to Seal’s “Kiss from a Rose.” He had everyone dress in denim, carry roses and make signs for the event that read, “Power,” “Pleasure,” “Pain,” and “Say yes!” He even got a battery-operated falcon to deliver the ring (with a little help from his best man). Jenna excitedly said yes! It was truly a memorable proposal, and seeing all of the work and effort that went into it meant so much to her. aura and John Michael met early in life as they grew up down the street from one another in a small town in East Texas. The pair have been best friends since junior high. While college took them in different directions – Laura to New York University and John Michael to the University of Texas at Austin – they always remained close. Their bond was strengthened as they visited each other often and spent time together each summer. On a memorable trip to Belgium, John Michael planned to pop the question. The couple had dinner at a tiny restaurant in Bruges, Belgium, called De Stove. After enjoying the most amazing seafood stew, they went on a walk around town making their way toward the water. On a beautiful, moss-covered bridge, John Michael asked Laura to marry him. It was on a cool, spring evening, and with no one around, the couple was able to savor the private moment. rica and her girlfriend were enjoying cocktails at a bar in Chicago when their waiter informed them that their bill had been paid for. Titus was the kind gentleman who took care of their tab and the girls invited him over to chat. After drinks, the trio got dinner and talked more. The very next day, Titus asked Erica out for a date and they have been together since. Titus planned a date night at the same Chicago cocktail lounge where they had first met. Erica was completely unaware of the evening being anything other than a date night. They had an amazing dinner at a Japanese restaurant and then headed to the bar. The couple ordered cocktails when Titus suggested they move to a more private section where he dropped to one knee and asked Erica to marry him. obin and Stu briefly met one another while he was visiting Austin. Eight months later, he moved to Austin and they got set up on a date. Since then, they have enjoyed each other’s company and love spending every second possible together. After a nice dinner one night, the pair returned home and Stu ran inside. Not thinking much of this, Robin was shocked to open the door to see him down on one knee. She said yes as their three dogs attempted to knock him over! Rain threatened their wedding day, but the skies cleared as the day progressed and it turned out to be gorgeous. Robin and Stu loved seeing their loved ones who are scattered all over the world in one place; seeing them all come together was indescribable. At the last minute, the couple decided to do a first look. They agree the first look allowed them to soak in the true meaning of their special day. essica and Adam first saw one another during a happy hour between their companies. They didn’t talk, but soon they were working an event together where he got her number from a coworker. The pair began texting, which soon turned into something much more! The couple was looking forward to visiting friends in Boulder, Colorado, while Adam knew it was the perfect setting for a proposal. While the girls grabbed coffee, the guys scoped out a scenic proposal location. After lunch, the group went for a hike up a snow-covered mountain. As they reached the peak and Jessica was taking in the views, she turned to face Adam who said, “The Beatles once said, ‘All you need is love and I believe that statement to be true.’” He asked her to marry him and she happily said yes as their friends snapped memorable photos. ong before Macey moved to Austin, she and Chad met briefly at SXSW through a mutual friend. Fast-forward two years and she packed her bags to move to Austin. Chad was living with the same friend who had introduced them at the festival so their paths crossed again. The pair immediately hit things off ! Chad proposed to Macey on her birthday! He had come up with an idea of doing a time capsule that included notes documenting all the “big” milestones that happened in their relationship. For Macey’s birthday, they started off with an amazing meal at Launderette. When they got home, Chad told her that he had prepared a few notes for their time capsule and gave them to Macey to read. The last note read, “We got engaged.” Shocked, Macey looked up to see Chad down on one knee. To commemorate the sweet proposal, he secretly videotaped the entire thing! hen Mara’s group of friends met up with Anthony’s at Austin City Limits, he couldn’t forget her tall, fringed boots. Over the next few months, they started talking and he offered to make her dinner on Valentine’s Day. This was the first time Anthony cooked and he wound up burning the steak dinner. Despite this, Mara has been smitten ever since! Three years after first meeting at ACL, the couple was heading back to where it all began. Zilker Park, where the festival is held, holds a special place in Mara and Anthony’s hearts as their precious daughter was born there as well as it being the site of their first home. Once they got to the festival, Mara noticed lots of people they knew but thought it was a coincidence. The group went to the iconic picture frame for a photo and afterward, Anthony grabbed Mara’s hand so they could get a photo of the two of them. Not wanting to make people wait, she hesitated before Anthony dropped to one knee! The crowd cheered as Mara – completely shocked – happily said yes! aura and Darrell’s paths crossed in 1991 while they were working together. They got reacquainted by social media that connected their work history and they starting dating in 2015. eredith and Blair met through online dating despite the fact that they shared mutual friends, and their families even knew one another! From their first phone call, there was an instant connection. Meredith suffered several losses within months of dating Blair, which only made their relationship stronger. They knew if they could endure those hardships, they could handle anything. Blair let Meredith know he had a special day planned. The day started with him delivering breakfast from her favorite spot, Paperboy. Meredith opened one of the to-go boxes only to find her grandmother’s ring! He knelt on one knee and asked her to marry him. Elated, she said yes. The surprises continued later when they arrived at InterContinental Stephen F. Austin for dinner and their families and close friends were waiting for them! aylor and Alex went to high school together, but only got to know each other after reconnecting through Facebook years later. Because Alex was working in Africa, they spent a lot of time chatting on the phone. When he got back to Texas, he visited her and they have been inseparable since. For a special dinner with her parents, the group planned on dining at one of Taylor’s favorite spots – Gruene River Grill. After dinner and a quick bottle of wine, a nervous Alex got down on one knee in front of Taylor’s parents – and everyone else in the restaurant – and asked her to marry him! Taylor and Alex’s wedding day was a relaxing one. The bride shared a special moment with her fathers before the ceremony. When the church doors swung open and Taylor and Alex’s eyes met – they were overcome with joy. espite going to elementary school together, Jessie and Kirby’s story began years later after she finished graduate school. They both happened to be at the same pub with friends and the rest is history! The pair hung out many times after that and fell in love quickly. Kirby was working offshore as a second mate on an oil tanker, which meant long trips away from home. About two weeks before he was scheduled to leave in late November, he took Jessie out on his fishing boat in Clear Lake near Galveston Bay. Date nights on the boat are a favorite pastime of the couple’s. With their puppy, a bottle of wine and the gorgeous sunset – she was in heaven. Kirby poured Jessie a glass of wine and took her on the bow where he got down on one knee. She happily said yes.

aley and Michael met while living in the same dorm during their freshman year at Texas A&M University. They spent a little time studying together that year, but reconnected in graduate school. She had just returned from a trip to New York City and he had recently accepted a job there. Discovering this connection, they grew closer and he asked her out. The pair shared a memorable first date – Haley spent the first 30 minutes finishing an assignment! – but they quickly became inseparable. Michael surprised Haley by proposing at their favorite spot in Central Park on a chilly February day. Over the years, the couple would visit the spot for a picnic, listen to their favorite songs and enjoy the views. As they listened to music during this visit, Michael suggested Haley pose for a photo facing the skyline. When she turned around, she saw him down on one knee – an image she will never forget! amantha and Alex’s paths first crossed during a trip to Aspen. They both didn’t think much of the encounter in a shared Uber, which made their second chance meeting months later at a local beer garden even better. After a few weeks, Samantha accepted Alex’s invitation to a baseball game. She knew after the game that he was a keeper! Alex planned the perfect destination to ask Samantha to marry him – Disney World! Samantha’s entire family was going to celebrate several milestones and birthdays. Rather than visit the park on their first night, Samantha’s mom suggested they get a boat ride to watch fireworks over the water. As the fireworks were about to begin, Samantha heard – in a very shaky voice – Alex say, “Baby.” She turned to see him on one knee! She excitedly accepted his proposal and the fireworks show began. The view and being with her soon-to-be-husband was the best moment of Samantha’s life. t took moving to South Korea for Cami and Kevin to meet, both of which share strong Texas roots. They each work for ExxonMobil and were offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to move across the world. After working in Houston prior to being transferred, Cami and Kevin had no idea how life-changing their new assignments would be. They got to know one another overseas with groups of coworkers. He finally asked her out on a semi-date of grocery shopping. Luckily, this turned into many more dates. When they returned to Houston, the couple was spending a weekend visiting Kevin’s family. With a ring box constantly etched into his mind, his proposal plan fell into place as they were headed home. Kevin made a detour to visit a favorite childhood spot, Enchanted Rock. As they climbed the granite hill and soaked in the beautiful Hill Country, Kevin asked Cami to marry him. Their GoPro was recording and captured an array of emotions – laughing, hugging and crying as they were engaged. atalie and Brent give their mutual friends all the credit for introducing the pair to one another. The couple met at their friend’s dinner party and quickly hit things off. During Thanksgiving week, Natalie and Brent had plans to get dinner with friends. Brent seemed a little “off ” to Natalie when he got home from work, but she didn’t think too much of it. To her complete surprise, he uncorked a nice bottle of wine in the kitchen and got down on one knee! She excitedly said yes and they savored the moment privately along with their precious spaniel pups. Their dinner with friends soon turned into a celebratory affair. Natalie was surprised again when they walked into Jeffrey’s of Austin and she spots their families waiting for them! Turns out, Brent had been planning that evening for months. The newly engaged couple, their families and closest friends celebrated into the night! Other Local Vendors: Lane’s On Austin • Zeiner Design

atherine and Tyler met while working together at a restaurant. After a year of knowing one another, they officially began dating. Soon after, Tyler was offered a job teaching English in South Korea. Despite being an ocean apart, their love only grew. Tyler initially planned on proposing on a hike with the couple’s dog. Katherine was too distracted to sit on the bench he had scoped out, so he decided to wait until later. When they got home, they were getting ready to travel to Fredericksburg for a wine tasting. Tyler tried to pop the question when they were getting ready after the hike, but Katherine insisted she needed to shower. Finally, Tyler blurted out, “Before you get in the shower, will you marry me?!” Katherine excitedly said yes and the couple had a great evening celebrating! Katherine and Tyler had a gorgeous outdoor ceremony at the Barr Mansion. A string quartet greeted guests as they were seated and played throughout cocktail hour. The couple’s wonderful vendors ensured their day was executed perfectly. SARAH DeCLERK & JAMES ALLMOND

arah and James met on a Caribbean cruise while both vacationing separately with their families. They met while shooting hoops on the ship’s basketball court and instantly clicked. Throughout the vacation, they wound up spending lots of time together. They shared a lot in common, but a big difference was their living situation – she lived in Arkansas and he lived in Austin. By the end of the cruise, they knew they found something special and decided to explore the relationship further. After the cruise, they visited each other frequently and when the time was right, Sarah moved to Austin so they could be together. They both agree that destiny brought them together. The couple took a lovely Christmas vacation to Vail, Colorado. During the escape, James brought Sarah to a beautiful, scenic bridge where they admired the view for a bit before he surprised her by getting down on his knee and popping the question!
