'Run or Walk' for a 'fit' cause this Sunday at Kalyan Nagar‌ To commemorate National Sports Day and promote health, fitness and wellness a Run/Walk has been organized this Sunday, 25th Aug 2013. Meet our very own 'Chennai Express'… Yes! A dashing Bangalore mother from Kalyan Nagar has won the THIRD place (2nd runner-up) in the popular Mrs. Homemaker (South) contest held by Jaya TV recently! Kudos to Mrs. Bhavani Ravichandran, accounting professional and entrepreneur who in spite of several odds caught the attention of judges by her portrayal of 'Nirbhaya' (Delhi gang-rape victim) in the finale … Says, this affable 'young' mother (of a 21 year old son) “I was probably the oldest amongst the contestants; since the rule is 'married women' and does not prescribe any agegroup…there were women in their early 20s' and I was as old as their mother!” Mrs. Homemaker (South) is a popular reality TV show organized by Jaya Television and this year (2013) it completed the 9th edition successfully.

The auditions for this year's event saw around 3000 married women vie with one another in three rounds; Vegetable Jewelry, Collage and Dance. From this round, 400 entered the next level. Bhavani adds "I have never danced my life though I have been an athlete and won several competitions at school. This was the toughest! My son's friends egged and supported me all through!”

From this round…17 semi-finalists were selected for the 'Budget' round held at Trichy. This involved, contestants picking up products in the budget given (Rs.3500/-) and the ones who picked close to got the maximum points! She practiced 'dutifully' at Shoba Central Supermarket! (CMR Road, Kalyan Nagar) Having gone through the easy ones, the semi-finalists entered the 'Village' round. In this, contestants had to cook 'village-style' using only native utensils/ingredients! Bhavani even 'learnt' on how to make pancakes out of 'cowdung'! She adds that her 'Pathiya Kara Kozhambu' was the flavor of the competition. From food to adventure…the team proceeded! Adventure round, entailed contestants showing their prowess in Rock climbing, Rappelling, Boat riding and Air-rifle shooting...Chips in Bhavani “I bought an air-rifle and a friend (retd Colonel) from our neighborhood taught me the basics” The competition which started on 1st April witnessed the finale on 12th July 2013 at Chennai. The final TWELVE had to undergo photo shoots, ramp walks and an individual dance performance for the decider. Explains, the dashing mother “Our team took up the 'Nirbhaya' (Delhi rape case) concept to emphasize the point. I had to perform solo and within three minutes. Guess, without my nephew (Gautam resident of Kalyan Nagar) and my son's friends I wouldn't have pulled it off”. The message 'Self-discipline the key to STOP rape' won her the accolades. The icing was the appreciation by popular film actor/dancer Ms. Sukanya and the standing ovation she received. · 2 cups Makhanas (Fox nuts) (Roasted dry for 3-4 minutes and roughly crushed)
· Boil milk on a low flame for 10-15 minutes

· Add Makhanas, almonds, kishmish and boil again for 10-15 minutes until the milk becomes slightly thick
