tête-à-tête In a free-wheeling interview, Dr. S a b i t h a R a m a m u r t h y, President, CMR Jnanadhara Trust that runs a bouquet of Educational Institutions in our neighborhood, reminisces the past, present and the future…
• Early life My parents were at Domlur. I did my schooling in SFX (St.Francis Xavier’s) and had finished my graduation. I had got my admission for PG, when my marriage happened. I wanted to continue my education, but my parents insisted that marriage was the priority. I was apprehensive, as to how my father-in-law (Chikka Muniyappa Reddy – CMR) would react. But, he was the one who insisted that I continue my PG. Not only that, he was the main motivator to me in pursuing my academic career. (She is Doctorate in Moral Education) • National Junior School The school was an extension of my father-in-law’s dream. Since, he was the ‘Patelru’ of this area; he had helped many people in their education. He always had the ambition to provide the best quality education to the neighborhood. The school started in 1992 with 6 students in the first year! During the second, it went up to 15. I faced many hurdles from lot of people for having started the school. But, now after almost 18 years…I am really proud that NJS (now CMR NPS) has been a home for thousands of bright young minds! • The story of hurdles Oh! Yes! Now, when I look back at hurdles, I cannot name one or two! It was a part of my life! Running a school is not a mean task. And, that too providing quality education at a reasonable cost. But, I owe all that what CMR is now to my Father-in-law, my husband, family, dedicated staff and above all…my mentor Dr. Gopalakrishna (Founder NPS Group of Institutions). Without his constant guidance and support, we would not be what we are today. In fact, I vividly remember an incident (1996) when we started the PG courses at CMR. One of the top-most professors had challenged me, that running PG courses is not akin to running a school. I took it up as a challenge. That was the turning point of CMR. We are an autonomous institution now!

• Vision of CMR (Chikka Muniyappa Reddy) I can say proudly, that we have defineitley achieved a significant part of his vision. But, lot more needs to be done! My dream is to create ‘LEADERS’ not ‘WORKERS’. Now, the CMR Group is 12,642 strong (Students of all the institutions – From Montessori to PhD scholars). The focus is on all round development and not only academics. • Success formula Formula! There is none like that! Sheer perseverance and dedication is what I believe in. But, probably you could say that I am blessed! (She has done her Masters, Doctorate etc. after her marriage) I always believed in Fair play (my staff), benevolence (my students’) and unstinted support of my family. If I may say so “If one has the Faith; one can achieve wonders”! • Hobbies Somehow, from my young age, I liked reading. Especially, I liked writing exams! That is one of the reasons, I ventured into academics full-fledged. I did my PG, MEd and then my PhD. Even now, I spend my time reading! It is my passion! I also play the Veena sometimes. • Future… My children have already taken over the mantle of leadership! Well, I still have a long way to go. Now, that a student can join CMR Group at a Montessori level and go up to finishing his/her PhD…all in the campuses located in the neighborhood, we want to focus on Manpower Development. India has the required infrastructure but what it needs is skilled manpower. CMR shall work in that direction. Footnote: Born on the 25th of December, Dr. Sabitha Ramamurthy is a recipient of many awards. Woman of the Year in 2002, Bhartiya Nirman Ratna (2003), Vocational Excellence (2004) Indira Gandhi Sadbhavan Award (2004). Towards a debt-free life…
‘No Making charges’ • With the amount of intricacy involved in making valuable gold and silver jewelry, do you think any goldsmith makes ornaments without charging (making Charge) for what he makes? • So if someone is giving you ‘zero charge’ for any of these, he must collect from you in ‘some other form’, say on quality, or high charges on other things, or collecting the price of metal for the stones in it, or ‘Value addition charges’, etc.. ‘KDM-Gold’ & ‘KDM Charges’ • In conventional methods of soldering jewelry, a material was being used, locally called ‘Pudi or Tankam’, which has been replaced by KDM in more recent methods Implies KDM is only a soldering material, and it has nothing to do with the purity of the gold. • KDM is the short form of a type of soldering alloy in which ‘cadmium’ is used. KDM is just like metal glue used while soldering in the process of making the gold jewelry. It is not a type of gold. ‘Gold Rates – Rs. 55/-, 100/- less per gram’ • The gold and silver in the entire nation is based on the Mumbai Bullion Market. Do you think it is possible to sell something at a cheaper rate than bought in the market? What is Debt Settlement? Debt settlement involves negotiating with the credit card and personal loan companies to reduce the total amount of debt – outstanding balance that you owe. This includes the principal and the interest accrued over the months/years it is a fairly dynamic and vigorous approach to credit card / personal loan and debt relief, with some of the advantages being that most consumers are able to significantly lower the amount they owe and, settle the debt almost effortlessly. Debt settlement is an excellent debt relief solution for consumers who are in serious credit card and personal loan debt and are unable to continue making their minimum monthly payment and /or have already fallen behind. A debt settlement client will immediately notice a substantial reduction in their monthly payments or payouts compared to the past when payments were consuming them. Unfortunately, even if you are doing nothing, your creditors will definitely not do the same. This will most likely result in lawsuits, recovery agent’s harassment, and embarrassments at your work place and before family members, repossession and a lot of stress. Ignoring your debts will never make them disappear, but it will most certainly cause you more grief and stress in the short and long run. The Answer: Edvin India Edvin India is a debt settlement company that aims at helping you approach your creditors without the hassle or tension of being pushed around. Once the complete extent of your unsecured debts is determined, Edvin India very skillfully negotiates the settlement of each account for you. As an end result you will pay a fraction of your outstanding debt. Depending on the kind of payments you have been making your budget is decided. What you can afford to pay is also an important factor in the decision. There is no hard and fast about how much money you need. Edivn India works on a case to case basis, taking into consideration your financial condition. The length of time to complete your program will depend on the amount of your current debt and the amount of time and effort you take to resolve the situation. In most cases, a typical settlement would take an average of two weeks. Your Debt Consultant at Edvin India will advise you of the amount of time it will take when you request your debt settlement consultation. But, when I come here I enjoy it,’’ says an elated Rithik. .....Summer camps generally have two segments, one for kids between 3-5 years and the other for 6-12 years. They offer an array of activities like arts, crafts, painting, dance, cooking, story-telling, puppet shows and so on. .....‘‘Unlike other summer camps we don’t recommend learning for children during vacations. Besides, we also teach English through multi-sensory techniques,’’ explains Amruthavalli of Vishishta. .....Be it learning through fun or fun through learning, kids here certainly have a lot in store for them. Varlakonda Varlakonda is what B V Prakash, an accomplished travel writer and Mountaineer, suggests escaping from the scorching heat of Bangalore to refresh in the lap of Nature‌
offer valid only for petrol spark only
.....Varlakonda is a beautiful wide rocky hill of blue grey hue at about 75 kms from the city along NH 7. It is just another of the numerous hills and hillocks one finds driving along highways. What makes it ideal for a daytrip from the city is that it is less crowded on holidays too! Secondly, it is also fairly neat and unspoilt with litter. The only hurdle is that there is no drive way to the top and one need to climb up‌all the way. .....The village road leads to the base of the hill where an old temple of Venugopalaswamy is being renovated. The thin trail passing from right joins the way to the top. Climbing the hill involves three humps. The first one is rather testing and seems
steeper. But taking small easy steps in a slow rhythm makes it less tiring. Pausing frequently to take in the scenery is a good way of overcoming fatigue. Early morning is a good time to do when the sun is not so harsh.
*Terms & Conditions apply. Loan at the sole discretion of Bank. This offer cannot be clubbed with any of the running offers. Offer valid for Spark Petrol only. *Conditions as per CPCOO applicable.
..... The second and the third slopes are comparatively easier. There is no path on the rocky ground but keep walking westward along a dried up rain water trench. To avoid confusion it would be better to ask a shepherd around or take a village boy along. ..... The temple at the top is that of Kodandaramaswamy. It is a small simple structure always kept open. A few broken stone pillars lie around. The shade around the temple walls is where one can relax and eat. The all-round scenery from hill top is pleasing with plain fields, the highway and the distant hills. Take care while descending though there is hardly any risk. .....Getting there: Driving on NH 7 after exactly 74 kms look out for a road going below to left from the highway leading to the village. Buses going to Bagepalli make a stop here. Take food and enough of drinking water, since there is as nothing available here. Of course, bring back wastes and water bottles!
