CMR Institute of Technology Honing the Technology temperament This is concluding part of the article on CMRIT…

by providing them the best of infrastructure, training to pursue and promote their scientific temper. All students at CMRIT are a integral part of this centre and end up in pursuing their Masters in MIT, Harvard and the like.

In the last issue, we had discussed the various programs and salient features CMRIT has to offer for students pursuing their professional dreams. In this issue, we shall dwell briefly on the USP’s of CMRIT…

1. Campus: Located in the heart of Bangalore’s IT district on IT Park Road (Whitefield)…the strategic position helps in placements for students, in view of several IT companies at a stone’s throw from CMRIT. An important feature is the Tree Plaza and a Coffee Day outlet, that serves as an meeting point for impromptu activities (cultural/academic/co-curricular). Flood-lit courts and a large ground for outdoor sports are another plus. On campus housing, ample parking, dedicated Busbays accentuate the campus. 2. Academic activities: Guest Lectures, industrial visits, partnership programs with IT Companies, National Conventions, Student forums (Electronics Association and KOSH – Biotech forum in particular), project exhibitions et al are an integral part of CMRIT’s curriculum. 3. Bridging the gap: Remedial classes and bridge courses for slow learners, extra coaching for potential Rank Holders, regular counseling cell for students’ and CMR Scholarships for economically poor meritorious students’ is what makes students’ endear to CMRIT.

7. Placements: Career Guidance and Placement Bureau at CMRIT is the vital cog in CMRIT wheel and is considered top-notch when it comes to placing students’ in reputed companies / organizations / universities. A single-window center, this Bureau provides quality campus-industry interface, facilitates internships for all PG & UG programs, apart from taking care of foreign language classes. A consistent record of over 90% placements every year with leading companies (IT/BT/Blue-Chip) is another USP of CMRIT. 4. Library: The Library and Information Center (14,000 sft) at CMRIT is awe-inspiring. Over 22,000 books, 150 Indian Journals, 50 foreign journals…from all branches of academics to the fictional (for language improvement) is the favorite haunt of students’. The digital Library boasts of around 1500 CD’s, inter library loan arrangement with Delnet, IIMB, IBS libraries’, membership with IIMB, British Council, exclusive reading rooms, wi-fi enabled access for over 200 students’ and access to databases such as ILE, SAGE, IFCAI are major USP’s. 5. Faculty: Faculty at CMRIT is ranked one of the best in the country. Each dept. of CMRIT is headed by an able professor who holds a doctorate in his/her respective branch with a committed and dedicated staff (Postgraduates and above) is another feature. A unique TRC

(Teacher Resource Centre) is an integral part of CMR Group of institutions. TRC’s main aim is to encourage, advice and suggest the existing faculty at CMRIT to advance in their academic careers. For e.g. a lecturer who is a PG holder is given an opportunity to do his doctorate and a PhD holder is allowed to do his post-doctoral courses…all aimed at gaining extensive knowledge and imparting the same to students’. Another highlight is the faculty self-appraisal and students’ feedback to improve academic performance.

6. Research Centre: This hi-tech Research Centre at CMRIT is comparable to the best in the country and a full-fledged facility that too in a private institution (apart from the IISc’s and reputed Universities) is a dream for students’. This R&D centre headed by post doctoral staff facilitates the students’ quest for further knowledge

Concludes K C Ramamurthy, IPS, IG of Police (Retd.), Chairman, CMR Jnanadhara Trust that manages the entire CMR Group “Creating world-class technocrats at CMRIT being our mission…we are satisfied that our aim is being fulfilled to a large extent. We have ensured that Faculty (who imbibe knowledge), Library (proper dissemination), Placements Bureau, R & D Centre (for fueling academic excellence) coupled with world-class infrastructure are in unison to meet the aspirations of our students’ and their parents in particular…to etch a mark in our country’s firmament…wherever they are”.
