HEAR ME ROAR STUDIO S LUXURY Collection 2017

S

eher Tareen, the creative director of Studio S, showcased her latest collection entitled “Hear Me Roar” amidst an intimate gathering of friends, artists and journalists. Inspired by the work of old Japanese masters from the 18th and 19th century, the collection featured ethereal fabrics, flowing silhouettes and an eclectic yet distinctly feminine colour palette. The collection and evening centred around the theme of “I Am Woman (Hear Me Roar)” a Helen Reddy song which is a feminine anthem for women’s liberation. The venue was minimally but powerfully decorated with hand painted scribbles (the lyrics of I am woman) by Seher on rustic white cloth. This emphasized the need to depart from contrived ideals of “perfection” and a move towards the beauty of the deconstructed and organic self. This was further highlighted in the deliberately unfinished and frayed hems found in the collection, symbolizing the rawness of an individual’s authenticity. Strong details such as statement shoulder ruching lent a

powerful edge to otherwise traditionally ‘delicate’ fabrics like net, thereby highlighting an amalgamation of femininity and strength. By bringing together a thoughtfully selected group of contemporary female artists to wear and talk about the collection, the showcase went beyond the confines of fashion. Risham Syed, Aroosa Rana and Saba Khan embodied the strong feminine aesthetic championed by Studio S, and the panel (moderated by Mina Malik-Hussain) engaged in an inclusive and thought provoking talk about feminine identity, creative energy, gender norms and expectations and much more. The evening saw talented artists Rabia Ajaz, Zoha Khan, Shakila Haider and Mariam Qureshi come together as a part of the inspired installation. The showcase highlighted the importance of authenticity, embracing our unique identities as women and candid dialogue about the interpretations and significance of female empowerment. This message was beautifully cemented through the careful incorporation of symbology in the collection, decor and panel discussion.

Fitness November 2017|88 | 85 August 20,12,2017

How long have you been running Fitness with Shehzad? What form of exercise do you focus on? Fitness with Shehzad came to existence a little over 2 years ago. It’s a platform that gives people with little or no knowledge information on how to go about staying healthy. However, I personally have been a part of the fitness lifestyle for around 9 years. The form of exercises vary from client to client, depending on their requirements; to lose fat, gain muscle size or just wanting to tone up. 80% of my clientele are people who want to focus on

This week, we got some fitness tips and tricks from

of fitness with Shehzad. Who also happens to be the head trainer for the 42 Day Challenge in Lahore

fat loss and toning. In this realm, I require clients to do high intensity interval training that consists of a mixture of cardio and weight training to achieve their goals in an effective way. What is your fitness philosophy? NEVER GIVE UP! Always keep fighting for your goals. Even if you have a set back, you have to push yourself back up always! How did you find yourself wanting to pursue a career as a personal trainer? I personally started with no knowledge about how to achieve my fitness goals and as a result I made plenty of mistakes which made me grow and learn different aspects of training that we neglect or aren’t aware of. I got stuck for months in a rut where I was working hard but minor mistakes held me back. I don’t want people to suffer similar setbacks when you try so hard and are stuck at the same point. So I decided to make it my life’s mission to help those who are looking to get fit. With so many different forms of fitness to choose from, why would you recommend personal training? We all need a little push in our life. Having a person standing on your head and pushing you definitely helps one do more than you think you can. With my clients I can person-

It ensures 100% accurate angles and proper workouts that are changed religiously ensuring solid positive change. Another way to look at the importance of personal training is that there are clients that have issues with a specific part of the body, so shaping the workout plans around that ensures effective results in a short period of time. What is the best way to stay motivated to stick to your fitness routine? The best way is to always compare yourself today with who you were the day before. If you feel and look better than you did yesterday, then that’s all you need. Never look at others and compare yourself with them. Everyone has a different body type and everyone has a different regime that they follow. It’s YOU against YOU always!! How do you keep your clients motivated to achieve their goals? What does motivation come from, for anyone? Results!! When the clients see the results they achieve through an effective diet and workout regimen, that’s what motivates them. Seeing the results one week after the

other boosts their drive. The results become an addiction; you can’t get enough and you always want more and better. And how do you keep yourself self motivated? I often look at my old pictures whenever I feel unmotivated. It took me years and years to get the results I wanted, to gain the weight that I would never normally gain. The transformation I see in all these years, is the

Always keep fighting for your goals. Even if you have a set back, you have to push yourself back up always!

only motivation I need. Is there a golden number for the amount of time one should exercise to achieve their fitness goals/ideal weight? There is no golden number. It is an addiction, a lifestyle that you get so used to when you see the results and the progress you’re

making. Once you develop it as a lifestyle there is nothing more you need. Time to achieve ones goal varies from person to person but I do say one thing; give yourself about 6-12 months to start to truly see effective changes. Diet and exercise go hand in hand so you have to make sure you eat right and work out religiously for those results to happen. What is your favorite part about working out/ what is your favorite exercise? My favorite part about working out is the rush I feel during it. I forget everything when I enter the gym. Put my headphones on and turn the beast mode to full swing. Leg day is my favorite!!! The feeling when you’re unable to walk and feel so drained is the best feeling one can ever get. It shows me that I did something right. Everyone has that one weakness when it comes to food! What’s yours? Pizza pizza pizza. Wake me up at 4am and show me a hot pizza and I won’t even be mad that you woke me up!! What has been the most gratifying experience in your journey as a personal trainer thus far? How many journeys should I mention? The moment I see my clients transformation due to dedicated hard work is the best feeling ever. Those results mean everything and they apply as a motivation factor in my life to help more people around me. Any tips for those looking to get into shape? The best tip I can give anyone is that no matter what you do EAT CLEAN!!! Without a clean diet you will never get results the way you want.
