Taste of Japan In cinemas this week This remake of the classic Disney story of a street rat who frees a genie from a lamp & finds his wishes granted has a lot to live up to. The original cartoon movie is a deeply loved classic & nostalgic fans have given the new version (with Will Smith as the genie) very mixed reviews. While the critics & fans may not all be lauding the new Aladdin, we will still be heading to cinemas to watch it this week. Even if it’s just to add our two cents of critique.
Yoshi’s is the latest gastronomical delight in Karachi’s bustling foodie scene. Introducing Japanese fast food bursting with exciting flavors that are a completely different take from traditional Japanese cuisine. So whether you’d like to try wasabi induced pepperoni pizza, burgers with rice buns or the most delicious Gyoza dumplings, this hot new eatery has you covered! Stadium Commercial Lane 2, Phase 5, D.H.A., Karachi, Pakistan.
Lals
Chocolates Lals is one of our favourite Pakistani luxury chocolate brands & we can’t get enough of their edible masterpieces. While their scrumptious cakes are sadly only available in Karachi you can order the rest of their goodies including truffles, chocolates, macarons & more, all over Pakistan.

Cricket World Cup fever!
Every four years the cricket World Cup rolls around & with it comes all the Pakistani jazba as cricket enthusiasts & normal folk alike unite to support our national team. In anticipation of the Pakistan/India match today we couldn’t help but reminisce on the glorious cricketing history of our cricket fanatic nation.
d l r o W t s a P ic n o Ic Cup Moments 1992 World Cup was the first event played with the white ball, under lights and in coloured jerseys that set a trend for similar events to follow. Pakistan was the underdog with both the captain & vice-captain not at peak fitness but Pakistan still defeated England in the final by 22 runs to bring home the first ever World Cup Trophy. The iconic cricket commentator and former cricketer, Rameez Raja made twin centuries against the most formidable teams in 1992 World Cup which gave the team confidence to reach semifinals. Shoaib Akhtar aka Rawalpindi Express bowled at a blazing speed of 100mph in the 2003 World Cup and remains the world record holder for fastest bowling. He also destroyed Stephen Fleming’s wicket in 1999 World Cup. Saqlain Mushtaq, the ‘Doosra’ inventor is the only bowler to do two hat-tricks in World Cup events and second bowler to do two hat-tricks in ODIs. Shahid Afridi aka Boom Boom Afridi took 21 wickets in only 8 matches making him the highest wickets taker. The iconic catch of Rameez Raja on Imran Khan’s ball at the 92 World Cup remains fresh in minds of all cricket lovers to this day.
Music to get you in the spirit Junoon, the Sufi rock band reunited to release a new song “Choolay Aasman” to unite the nation through their music just like they used to do in the past. Junoon Se, Zamanay Ke Andaaz, Jazba Junoon and Yaaron Yehi Dosti Hai are on repeat this cricket season. Vital Signs song Dil Dil Pakistan was ranked number three on the ten most popular songs list in a poll conducted by BBC World Service in 2003. This historic musical number is the most sung song among the Pakistani audience in World cup matches. Ten Sports Pakistan, a Pakistani pay-tv channel, recently released a song titled “Humaari Bari” which is upbeat hip-hop music. The song inspires confidence and fervour as we gear up to first win the most anticipated battle of the cricket World Cup i.e. India vs. Pakistan and later on the trophy.
n e e r g d e e l B n e e r g r a e W
The nation is already bleeding green and looking forward to the India vs. Pakistan match and making predictions based on their history and performance in the World Cup so far. It’s time to get geared up with green caps, jerseys, temp tattoos, glasses, speakers, pom poms etc and more. These jerseys are easily available at sports shops and can also be bought online from PCB’s website.
In Pakistan, there are only two options to watch Cricket on television which are PTV Sports & Ten Sports (which has higher viewership). Tune in to watch and support our team as we cross our fingers that they will once again bring the trophy home as they did under the captaincy of Imran Khan.
Pakistani cricket fans Stani Army, a group of Pakistan
supporters in the UK attends all the major matches in their hometown. These loyal UK based Pakistani cricket fans will be seen again today cheering on behalf of all Pakistani’s who couldn’t attend.
?
Where to watch
Muhammad Zaman AKA
Chacha T-20 will be curling his moustache in his traditional demeanour in today’s Pakistan vs. India match. He left his job in Dubai to see the Asia Cup 2011. Since then, he has been cheering for the green jerseys.
The most iconic cricket fan
Chacha- Chaudhary Abdul Jalil has been seen at all major matches for over 2 decades. He will be honoured with Global Sports Fan award in the United Kingdom during ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

Chalking the Future with Tecno
June 16, 2019 | 48
Smartphone giant TECNO initiated its biggest CSR project in Pakistan titled “Tecno Blue Chalk”. The mobile company has joined hands with Khubaib Foundation, a local children’s welfare organization to help deliver quality education to orphans. The event marking Tecno’s collaboration with Khubaib was held at the foundation’s college and hostel for orphans in the hill-city of Haripur, Pakistan. Creek Ma, the CEO of Tecno mobile Pakistan toured the orphanage with Nadeem Ahmad Khan, the chairman of Khubaib Foundation. The two walked through the campus and talked about ways to improve the infrastructure and to expand on the resources available for the orphanage. Both invoked their primary desire of improving the quality of education available so that the children have the same
opportunities as everyone else. Iftar at Aiwan-e-Sadr Arif Alvi, the President of Pakistan invited and met with 270 children from Khubaib Foundation. The dinner was attended by government officials, Nadeem Ahmad the chairman of Khubaib Foundation, Creek Ma, the CEO of TECNO Mobile Pakistan along with TECNO personnel and other business leaders. The children from the orphanage were very excited about visiting the ‘Aiwan-e-Sadr’ and brought handmade greeting cards to show their delight. As an appreciation of their hard work and academic performance they were given gifts by the President. The President also appreciated the ‘Tecno Blue Chalk’ campaign which is providing support and quality education to the children housed in the Khubaib Foundation orphanages.
