BUFFALO - If you are having the winter blues, brighten your day by heading out to fly a kite. Only do it in an unusual way at the Kites On Ice Festival. Come and view some of the most incredible displays of giant show kites of every size, shape and color on Feb. 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sturges Park on Buffalo Lake.

5 THINGS TO BRING!

•Bring the kids with you because free kid’s kites will be given away. (while supplies last).

•Bring an appetite - there will be food trucks, beer garden and hot chocolate and treats.

•Bring it on - play in the cornhole tournament and win a cash prize.

•Bring your sense of adventure - see all the other great things Buffalo has to offer: Shopping, wine bar, tap room, and eateries galore.

•Bring your camera - it’s a sight you simply won’t want to miss.

Experienced show kite flyers from Minnesota and the Midwest will demonstrate their skills with kites of all colors, shapes and sizes. It’s a sight to behold! There is no charge to fly your own kite. Other activities to be offered are dog sled rides, a cornhole tournament, pond ice hockey tournament and other family activities.

CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT:

Winning teams will receive $200 for 1st Place/ $100 2nd Place. Double elimination Price is $40/two-person team

POND HOCKEY TOURNAMENT:

Teams: 8 players per team – 4 vs. 4 – No goalies. Entry: $400 per team. Guaranteed 3 games.

Equipment: Helmet w/chin strap & skates are required. Protective equipment is optional but highly recommended.

Tourney Starts at Dawn and ends at dusk.

Tourney End: Dusk.

Age Divisions are: Beer League (18+)$400

Bantam/High School (13-17) - $200 and Squirts/Peewees (8-12) - $200.

2 – 15 minute halves. 2 minute intermission.

Overtime: 3 minute sudden-death. If no team scores, game moves to a sudden-death shootout.

2 game round-robin. Every team reaches playoffs. Single elimination, traditional bracket-styled playoffs.

Cash prizes will be awarded

Rinks: 2 – 120’ x 60’ rinks.

Goals: 6’ wide with 12” openings on each side.
