were so popular that people requested them throughout the year. Realizing they had a budding business, Robison bought the building where Master’s Hand is located as a workshop to create the candles. The business kept growing, so she decided to open a boutique store.

With home décor, clothing and accessories, Master’s Hand became a popular stop for area residents, as well as people from as far away as Omaha and Lincoln, which is about a 2-hour drive from Tekamah. Robison continued to make candles – with the capability of 1,200 per day - selling them at the store instead of taking orders. The boutique is also a popular stop for flowers for Valentines Day, Mother’s Day, and prom.

Adding Serendipity Chocolates, customers have options between housemade fudge and a variety of chocolates – dark or milk – with nuts, in the shape of Nebraska, marshmallows, or just about any style imaginable.

Master’s Hand is home to one of the best kitchen staffs you’ll find in a rural town. Featuring a delicious menu with items such as quiche, chicken salad, glazed salmon, a soup du jour, Master’s Hand is a popular destination for brunch or lunch. Dessert is a must, with a decadent chocolate cake or bread pudding on the menu.

However, during Spring Fling, the kitchen prepares its world-famous cinnamon rolls, topped with a sweet cream cheese frosting. You’ll want to order them ahead of time.

Community groups provide lunch during Spring Fling. Burgers and hot dogs, with chips and a soda, are usually on the menu for a reasonable price.

Robison has added leading a religious retreat that takes a busload of women to Waco, Texas, for a few days of camaraderie and bible study. They’ve also traveled to Mackinac Island, Michigan.

While Spring Fling may be the major attraction on Easter weekend, Tekamah offers a few other attractions and places to dine.

Since people are known to come and go as they choose during Spring Fling, you may want to check out a local eatery if burgers and hot dogs off a grill aren’t for you. The Tipsy Pig offers a sit down lunch or you can grab a quick sandwich at Subway. Then, head back to the spring fun.

While in Tekamah, a visit to the Burt County Historical Museum offers a look at the area’s past, from the days when Native Americans lived along the Missouri River, a few miles east, to the early settlers of the town, as well as some of the classic businesses, including a dentist’s office. You’ll find a charcoal-fueled iron among antique household items, all donated to the museum. The Burt County museum is located inside the E.C. Houston mansion, which includes a dance hall on the fourth floor.
