In the heart of the Twin City Model Railroad Museum, a cherished holiday tradition is set to return and cast its holiday spell once again. Night Trains® Season, a whimsical celebration that brings to life the museum’s extensive collection of model trains, is back from November through February. Visitors are invited to step into a captivating world where miniature locomotives and vintage toy trains transform the museum into a magical spectacle.

As the sun sets and darkness descends, the museum undergoes a mesmerizing transformation. The gentle glow of streetlights and buildings casts a warm glow, illuminating the perfectly crafted models of vintage passenger trains. The fictional town of Matlin, located within the museum, is enveloped in a snowstorm, its charm enhanced by the twinkling lights and festive decorations that adorn the layouts. It’s a captivating scene straight out of a winter wonderland, capturing the essence of the holiday season.

What is Night Trains?

Night Trains® Season transports visitors into a captivating realm where the museum’s diverse collection of model trains, representing various scales and classic toy trains from days gone by, come to life. The magic commences as daylight fades, and the museum’s exhibits are bathed in a soft, inviting glow. Specially illuminated models of vintage passenger trains chug along the tracks, adding an enchanting touch to the entire experience. Each corner of the museum is adorned with miniature Christmas lights and festive decorations, enhancing the sense of wonder and joy that Night Trains® Season brings.

Plan Your Visit: Hours and Special Events

Night Trains® Season unfolds every Saturday from November 4, 2023, to February 24, 2024. The event runs from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, allowing visitors ample time to immerse themselves in the magical ambiance. Tickets can be conveniently purchased online at tcmrm.eventbrite. com or at the door. For young enthusiasts under the age of 4, admission is free, while adults can enjoy this enchanting journey for just $15.

Special Evenings: A Delightful Bonus

As part of the 2023-2024 season, the museum has planned some delightful surprises for its visitors. In November, the transition from Halloween trains to winter decorations sets the stage for the festive season. Additionally, a Bonus Night Trains event awaits on Black Friday, November 24th, extending the enchantment until 7:00 PM.

December brings the arrival of Santa Claus, spreading cheer on December 16th and 23rd. Guests can capture cherished moments with Santa and share their holiday wishes. To add to the excitement, Bonus Night Trains Events are scheduled on the Monday, Wednesday, and Friday before Christmas, as well as on the Wednesday and Friday before New Year’s (December 18th, 20th, 22nd, 27th, and 29th).

In January, while the Christmas decorations bid farewell on January 27th, the museum continues to sparkle with winter-themed decor, captivating visitors until February. The transition from one magical setting to another ensures that the charm of Night Trains® Season lingers on, offering a delightful experience for all.
