Relief from pain and enjoying playing with my grandson
To be told at 50 I may need a knee operation one day was a shock. Not wanting an operation at this point, I needed an alternative, and what an alternative I found. In pain, I started Arborvitae treatment and after two weeks my pain and swelling had reduced. Now my pain has gone. If I am going to have a big day in the yard or in the bobcat, I make sure I take my Arborvitae first. What a fabulous product this is! No one should go through life in pain and I will tell anyone that will listen – if you have early onset mild osteo arthritis – start taking Arborvitae, it has certainly helped me. – Testimonial from Gary of Kenthurst

AQUARIUS
JANUARY 21 TO FEBRUARY 19
Expect a rollercoaster ride! Tuesday’s Mercury/Uranus link lights up your quirky and creative mind. Friday night’s Full Moon (in Aquarius) lights up your bohemian nature and your restless heart, but it will also stimulate your reckless side. So proceed carefully (especially with fi nancial matters) otherwise you could provoke a fi ery response from a cranky ex, a hidden enemy or a known frenemy. Th e weekend favours creative ideas and work projects.
During a global pandemic times are tough, travel is limited and many places around the world have imposed restrictions or are in lockdown. Th is week the Full Moon encourages you to explore and experiment as you study, travel locally or venture into brave new personal territory. It’s also important to capitalise on your current international contacts. With careful nurturing, who knows where they will lead in the future? On the weekend, tap into your creative side.
Th e planets push you to dream a dream, wish upon a star and set an ambitious new goal. And Venus encourages you to forgive transgressions from the past and stop worrying about the future. Old solutions won’t work – you need to keep up-to-date with fresh ways of solving problems. So try to take each day at a time as you focus on enjoying the here and now! Be inspired by birthday great, guitar guru Carlos Santana: “Th e present is where everything begins.”
Th is week you’ll feel compelled to connect with your inner world or help someone in need, as the Full Moon fi res up your spiritual and humanitarian zone. With the Sun, Mars and Venus visiting your job zone, creative and decisive action is required at work. But don’t waste your numerous talents with unproductive daydreaming that leads nowhere! If you procrastinate and dither around, then promising opportunities and important connections will pass you by.
Full Moons usually activate your moody side. And this week’s fulsome moonbeams are in the unpredictable sign of Aquarius. Prepare to be at your stupendous best and your tempestuous worst! If life becomes too hectic, then you’re likely to withdraw into your Crab shell so you can rest, recuperate and rejuvenate. It’s also a week when mysteries abound and someone could tell you something in strict confi dence. Th e question is … can you keep a secret?
You have ambitious professional goals for the future but sometimes you hold yourself back for fear of looking foolish. Th is week’s stars encourage you to be confi dent and proactive as you reach for the stars! You’re in the mood to fi x something around the house or repair a problematic relationship with a stressed relative. A family member could also turn to you for some insightful words of wisdom. If you listen to your intuition, you’ll know what to say.
Are you procrastinating about which project to pursue? A bored and unengaged Ram is a recipe for trouble. With the Full Moon activating your aspirations zone, focus on your goals for the future. However – with your ruler Mars racing through fellow fi re sign Leo – too much haste could land you in hot water. Do your best to get the balance right between thinking things through and taking action. On the weekend, be extra understanding towards a family member.
Th is week the Sun, Venus and Mars gallop through Leo, so your dynamic nature is on display for all to see. But the VenusJupiter opposition and the Full Moon turbo-charge your tendency to overdo things. So there’s a predilection to promise the Moon and then under-deliver or blow your budget with a spontaneous spending spree. Clever Cats will reign in extravagance with a healthy dose of discipline. Th e weekend is wonderful for daydreams and romantic reveries.
Your travel zones are being activated by the Sun, Venus, Mars, Saturn and the Full Moon. So you’re feeling restless but foreign adventures will be thin on the ground in 2021. Don’t despair! Find creative mini-escapades that are closer to home and plan to explore further afi eld in 2022. Be inspired by birthday great, aviator Amelia Earhart. “Adventure is worthwhile in itself.” When it comes to work or family, don’t promise more than you can deliver.
Th e focus is on Home Sweet Home as the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars visit your domestic and neighbourhood zones. So it’s a good week to patch up problems with a family member, spruce up your living space or make improvements in your local community. Th e Full Moon also urges you to display your true capabilities, as you discover your individual groove and assert your independence at work. Avoid being too stubborn though.
Prepare for a colourful and chaotic week! Venus shifts into your sign midweek, which boosts your natural charm and Virgo va-voom. Creative ideas and persuasive arguments will keep your mercurial mind well stimulated. But Friday night’s Full Moon looks rather disruptive, as your usual routine is turned upside down. Plus avoid the tendency to criticise yourself … and others. With a fl exible attitude, you’ll navigate your way through any temporary turbulence.
Th is week it’s all about money honey, as the Full Moon stirs up trouble and you need to fi nd an innovative solution to a cash fl ow problem. If you’re a clever Capricorn, then you’ll pal up with a fi nancially astute person who helps you fi nd ways to develop a second stream of income. Th e more proactive, creative and collaborative you are, the more positive your fi nancial future will be! It’s also a good time to get closer to loved ones who you can really rely on.

WITH ALEX MCKENZIE FUTURE FINANCIAL SERVICES • 4704 8585 Transition to Retirement can boost savings and maintain cash flow
Those approaching retirement have almost certainly heard their friends and colleagues use the term Transition to Retirement (TTR).
Some years ago the government allowed those over 55 to access part of their Superannuation through a Pension, the logic was to allow workers to ease out of the workforce into retirement. This ruling also provided an opportunity for those of preservation age but still working to reduce their tax and increase Super contributions.
The reason that the TTR is so effective is that it allows us to replace fully taxable income with income that is taxed concessionally, taking advantage of the advantageous Superannuation taxation rates.
The first step in establishing a TTR strategy is rolling Superannuation into a NonCommutable Allocated Pension (NCAP). An NCAP is able to pay a pension of up to 10 per cent of the total balance of the fund, however unlike a traditional allocated pension, no lump sum withdrawals are allowed. The NCAP has an advantage over superannuation (and all other investments) in the fact that there is no tax on either income or capital gains.
Once the NCAP is established, we elect to commence a pension, the pension amount is calculated based on the individual’s circumstances, but must fall between four and 10 per cent. This is paid directly to the client, between the ages of 55-59 it is taxed concessionally, after age 60 the income is tax free.
By receiving a pension we have increased the take home pay of the client, this is sometimes the desired result (particularly in the event the client is reducing work hours), but the most popular use of the TTR is to have the take home pay remain unchanged.
By salary sacrificing the excess income directly into Superannuation, the take home pay remains the same as it was prior to commencing the strategy, but income tax is significantly reduced. Funds contributed to Superannuation are taxed at 15 per cent, in most cases much lower than marginal tax rates.
The tax savings made in the years prior to retirement through a TTR strategy really add up to significant differences at retirement.
If you are past preservation age (currently 56) it is well worth investigating if a TTR is suitable for your situation.
It is an excellent way to boost retirement savings without negatively affecting cash flow.

WITH MATTHEW JEFFREY ONE POINT HEALTH • 4732 5188 Four tips to avoid aches and pains while working from your home
With the current restrictions and lockdowns resulting from COVID-19, many Australians have started working from home. In the clinic we are seeing a wave of individuals with aches and pains due to working from home. Here are four easy ways to prevent pain whilst you spend your days at home. 1. Schedule in regular movement.
Frequent breaks are essential throughout the day. This is not only good for your mental health, but your physical health too. We suggest that every 60 minutes you try to get up and go for a small walk, perform some stretches, or complete some simple home exercises. 2. Change your working position.
Like regular movement, preventing prolonged static positioning is essential in preventing pain. Every 30 minutes you should change the position that you are working in.
Changing your seat setting, standing, and kneeling are all examples of different positions you could try.
Remember, your next posture is the best posture. 3. Home ergonomic set up. Ergonomics is how well your workspace caters
for your body. When transitioning to working from home, it is important to make small adjustments to ensure that this new workspace, which you will often be spending long hours in, accommodates your body. Below are some recommendations to use in your home workspace: – Use a chair that supports your entire back and is easily adjusted while seated – Raise your seat height high enough so that both feet rest flat on the ground – Use a desk that has adequate leg space – Place you monitor/laptop screen directly in front of you, about 45-60cm away – Adjust your computer monitor/ laptop screen to be at an appropriate eye height – Keep your keyboard and mouse close to your body. 4. Daily exercise. Did you know that there is an increased risk of death associated with sitting for eight or more hours a day? Research suggests that performing at least one hour of physical activity per day can help reduce this risk.

Keeping your dog entertained during the long days of lockdown
With most families currently in lockdown due to the COVID19 virus, our pets are probably wondering why they are not going out for walks or visiting the dog park.
It is important for your dog to continue to exercise during this time.
Our canine companions thrive on social engagement and exploring smells, sights, and sounds. They are used to getting those needs met outside, so we have to ensure we provide extra stimulation indoors with scent games, fetch and tug-o-war games while still remembering doggy manners and basic obedience.
While it is still safe to walk your dog as long as you’re practicing social distancing, here are some indoor activities Haussmann recommends you can do with your dog the rest of the time.
Make your dog work for its treats
One easy way to provide mental stimulation and enrichment is to have your dog work for their food. Toys such as Treat Balls or Kong Toys where food falls out as the toy is played with are great.
Play hide-and-seek
This is a great game for the kids who may be going a little stir crazy. It is also a time to teach your dog to come when called.
Play fetch or set up an obstacle course
A smaller area should never be a barrier to a dog having fun and exercising. A simple game of fetch in the hallway or garage can burn energy and be lots of fun. You can also move chairs and small furniture to create a small obstacle course. Teaching your dog new tricks such as going under a table or chair is rewarding for both you and your dog.
Use scents as toys
Hide your dog’s favourite treat around your home and watch them track it down. Make sure the treats are not hidden in areas that you do not want your pet to access or stores inappropriate goods.
Make some puzzles
Creating puzzles from everyday items is simple yet stimulating for your dog. Simply filling an empty box with dry food and cutting small holes in the side will keep your dog entertained for hours. Your dog will move the box around as dry food falls out.
This current situation is rapidly changing and we will be here to provide the highest standards of care and answer any of your questions, so don’t hesitate to get in touch.
