Ê I know I’m late to the party, but I can see why Binge / Foxtel’s ‘Colin from Accounts’ won so many awards at this year’s Logies. It was such a fantastic, well written and well-acted series that it doesn’t surprise me one bit that it was renewed for a second season last week. The series stars creators and real-life married couple Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer as two strangers brought together by a car accident and an injured dog. Both won Outstanding Acting awards while the series won Outstanding Comedy at last month’s Logies. The pair will return to write, star and executive produce, however Dyer recently confirmed writing would not commence until the WGA strike had resolved in the United States. All going well, more episodes of ‘Colin from Accounts’ should come out in late 2024.

Ê One of my favourite shows in recent years, ‘The Newsreader’, is returning with season two on Sunday, September 10 at 8.30pm on the ABC. A year on from the events of series one, we meet Helen (Anna Torv) and Dale (Sam Reid), now established as ‘The Golden Couple of News’. To the out- side world, they present a glowing image of success and romance… but the truth is more complex. As 1987 rolls along, global stocks will soar and crash, Australia will prepare to celebrate its Bicentennial year, and Helen and Dale grapple with who they really want to be in life – and whether that path can be together. In some exciting news, the ABC will also drop a companion ‘The Newsreader Podcast’, with fans Leigh Sales and Lisa Miller, dropping each Sunday night across the series.

Ê Former tennis star Todd Woodbridge is expected to be announced as host of Channel Nine’s new 5pm game show ‘Tipping Point’. While no official confirmation has come through yet, it’s looking likely the doubles champion will get the gig.

Ê New 7mate observational series ‘Outback Farm’ will premiere this Tuesday, August 22 at 8.30pm. The six-part series, narrated by Jason Donovan, centres around Anthony and Danyelle Haigh, who start their new life converting a failed, desert farm into a hay growing business and tourist park.

Ê If you missed the live-action version of ‘The Little Mermaid’ in cinemas recently, I have good news for you – it’s being released on Disney+ on Wednesday, September 6. Disney+ subscribers will also be able to access special bonus content from the movie as well.

Ê Five new ‘I Am Groot’ shorts drop on Disney+ from Wednesday, September 6. The troublemaking twig returns to mischief in the second season. This time, Baby Groot finds himself exploring the universe and beyond aboard the Guardians’ spaceships, coming face-to-face – or nose-to-nose – with new and colourful creatures and environments.

Ê Happy 2nd Birthday Paramount+!
