Business is booming thanks to help
For this week’s column, I will be interviewing Grace, who is the owner and founder of Ball Balm & Co. Ball Balm & Co is an all-Australian all-natural solution that allows you and your boys to carry on living your best lives without discomfort. Packed full of amazing oils and other natural ingredients, Ball Balm will soothe, calm and hydrate. And it’s not just for the boys as it also eases the irritation of sunburn, friction, bites and shaving.
Who is your advisor and how long have you been receiving digital advice?
My adviser is Nathan Todd. I have been receiving advice from Nathan since November 2021.
What is your product?
My product is called Ball Balm. Ball Balm is an all-natural balm, created to help relieve skin discomfort caused from chafing and other skin irritations.
What was the main struggle you identified within your business?
My main struggle would be having a stable social media presence and being able to grow our brand on social media.
What were things you implemented that had a big impact on your business moving forward?
I regularly reached out to outside business opportunities such as Plugapalooza on Channel Seven’s ‘Sunrise’, Pink Finns, Blooms Chemist and other avenues that impacted our business massively. By implementing this initiative, Ball Balm has reached people nationwide in less than six months. Our most recent opportunities are the Royal Easter Show in April and the Weekender.
What advice would you give to other small businesses in the same situation?
My advice would be to be passionate about your product/service. Work hard to make it happen, never take no for an answer and nothing is impossible, as long as you have the drive. Lastly, everyone has an opinion, always trust your gut.

Lindsay MP Melissa McIntosh: Her message to local residents
Our community has faced a tough couple of years. As we’ve navigated the COVID-19 pandemic, as your local Member of Parliament, I’m so proud of the resilience we have shown. From our small businesses who had to shut their doors, to families who adapted to home schooling.
Delivering my plan to make our community an even better place to live, work and raise a family remains my top priority – ensuring you have shorter and safer trips by upgrading roads and delivering a new rail line, to supporting healthy lifestyles by enabling our kids and families to have access to better sporting facilities like the upgrades to Penrith Regional Sports Centre, and Chapman Gardens in Kingswood.
The pandemic has demonstrated the importance of our physical and mental health. The Morrison Government has funded a Pop-Up Mental Health Clinic in Kingswood to support locals, and I officially opened the Penrith Head to Health Centre after securing $14 million in funding, delivering one of my election commitments to you. This centre, which was the first of its kind to open in Australia, is available via appointments and drop-ins 354 days a year to provide much needed mental health services to our community.
We’re continuing to invest in local infrastructure to make daily commutes safer and quicker, and we are building Australia’s largest infrastructure project Western Sydney International Airport. This once-in-a-generation $5.3 billion investment will create over 11,000 jobs during construction and over 28,000 during operation. Already, over 50 per cent of construction jobs are going to western Sydney locals.
Opportunities from the Airport in agriculture, science, engineering, mathematics, research and retail will place western Sydney as one of the leading research and industry hubs in Australia.
I have been fighting hard through my first term for western Sydney to be at the heart of the new era of Australian manufacturing, and to back Aussie Made.
Local roads are important too and with your support, I fought for and delivered the full $127 million for Penrith City Council to upgrade Dunheved Road. Our community has needed this upgrade for many years and I am proud to deliver my election commitment for the thousands of local people who use this important road.

Busting congestion and making travel safer and faster with $127 million for the full upgrade of Dunheved Road. Building new carparks in Emu Plains, Kingswood and St Marys to make commuting easier for our community. Keeping families safe with new lighting for High Street and the Nepean River. the NepeanRiv Delivering $1.2 million for the upgrade of Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre, making it a modern, accessible venue for sporting groups and community events. Enhancing facilities and grounds for local softball, rugby league and cricket teams at Chapman Gardens in Kingswood, with over $1 million in federal funding. Assisting young people to enter the workforce with $250,000 through the Inspiring the Future Program.
