On stage: Mike and Rob Jeukens: At the Southern Bluesnight 2022, Mike and Rob Jeukens were allowed to kick off with their Delta blues. The 'stamp of approval' of the quality of music from father Rob (blues harp) and son Mike (guitars and vocals). The Blues Crew: Trademark of the winners of the B.R.U.L. Contest 2022 is authentic, ol' skool blues, ranging from acoustic country-blues to more recent electric repertoire. Blues as it was originally intended: directsparkling - catchy, from then and now. A repertoire that covers a broad palette of styles and songs from the beginning of the last century to today and ranging from gipsy-swing to Taj Mahal and early ZZ-Top. The Liberators: Maastricht's pride is now one of the longest-standing rock bands in the Netherlands with an impressive track record. Playing since 1979 and still alive and kicking after many European tours and albums; most recent is Waitin'. Their music is normally best described as solid rock-blues music based on the roots of our contemporary popular music, but for the Blues Experience they present their repertoire semi-acoustically. Something completely different.

JazzOut Fest Limburg

Leading venues in Roermond, Venlo, Heerlen and Maastricht will present a dazzling lineup of different jazz styles during Limburg's premier jazz festival. From old school to contemporary and crossovers with classical, pop, soul, R&B and hip-hop. What makes the festival so unique is that every day, a small festival descends on a different location. With not just one concert each, but a complete festival programme of its own until late at night. On Saturday 1 April in Theater aan het Vrijthof: Roda Da Holanda, Peter Willems Invites, Cory Henry and Zara McFarlane.

Tuesday 4 April | 19:30h | € 10 / students: € 2,50 | maastrichtuniversity.nl/SG Vertigo is not only one of Alfred Hitchcock’s greatest masterpieces, but also one of the most celebrated movie classics. And it’s not hard to see why, as this story about a man who chooses fiction over reality can be interpreted as an ode to cinema itself. But in a new collection of essays called Pose – Over hoe we kijken en wie we spelen, writer and film journalist Basje Boer shows a different perspective on Vertigo, in which a man glorifies a woman to the point where she’s no longer even human. And Vertigo certainly isn’t the only movie to do so. Why is that? In her lecture Vertigo & The Male Gaze, Boer discusses this perspective on Vertigo, along with related topics and themes from her book, such as the theory of the male gaze, why female passivity is attractive to both men and women, and female archetypes in cinema and pop culture. The Hillbilly Moonshiners

Deze zes ongemanierde rednecks transformeren favoriete pop songs van weleer en nu naar echte country rammers. The Hillbilly Moonshiners speelden de afgelopen jaren op vrijwel elk podium in Europa. Van kleine kroegen in Bratislava en Southampton, naar poptempels als TivoliVredenburg en Hedon en festivals als Sziget Festival.

Dit aangrijpende autobiografische meesterwerk van de Amerikaanse Nobelprijswinnaar Eugene O’Neill beschrijft één dag uit het leven van het toxische gezin Tyrone. De vader is een verbitterde, alcohol verslindende acteur, de moeder een labiele vrouw met een morfineverslaving, de oudste zoon een acteur met een cynische levensstijl en de jongste een hoog sensitief dichter met een waarschijnlijk terminale longaandoening.

Sisterhood is een documentaire over hoe het is om vrouw te zijn en de dagelijkse confrontaties die daarbij komen kijken. Filmmaker

Sophie Dros (King of the Cruise, Genderbende) praat in de film met vier uitgesproken, eigentijdse vrouwen en een groep jonge meiden. Samen bespreken zij hoe het is om nu een Nederlandse vrouw te zijn. Het zijn universele verhalen over omgaan met verwachtingen, ongemakken, empathie, verbondenheid en verlangen, maar ook over angst, de behoefte aan bevestiging en de controle verliezen.

Cabaretier en columnist Tom Lash speelt zijn nieuwste voorstelling Tom Lash Deugt. Lash vindt het tijd worden om wat dingen duidelijk te krijgen. Na een verwarrende pandemie en met het land politiek in meer stukjes opgedeeld dan ooit, moeten er keuzes worden gemaakt.

7 april Noordkaap

Muziekgieterij

Twintig jaar na de slotconcerten in de AB is de band Noordkaap weer samen. In de bezetting waarmee de band hun grootste hits en beste albums maakte: met Lars Van Bambost op gitaar, Erik Sterckx op bas, Nico Van Calster op drums, Wim De Wilde op toetsen en Stijn Meuris op zang.
