Long-lasting clusters of ruffled lavender blooms (See page 42 for more information.)
Dear Valued Customer, Heralding the arrival of spring, we are proud to unveil the new 2013 Weeks Roses Wholesale Catalog. For the third year, there are two catalogs in this mailing—our classic wholesale rose catalog and the third season of Weeks’ Edibles & Ornamentals, which continues to expand with new and exciting selections. The 2013 rose catalog is an entirely new design. The front cover announces Love Song™, one our most prolific and long-blooming floribundas. The beautiful lavender, old-fashioned blooms will make you want to sing its praises. Our back cover showcases Sparkle & Shine™. This attention-grabbing floribunda is a non-stop, disease resistance blooming machine. Large clusters of big, bright yellow blooms contrast with the glossy foliage and bright red new growth. You can see all of our new exciting introductions for 2013 on pages 4-5. We are excited about the many changes we have made in our production and fulfillment this year. RFID accuracy was great improved this year, resulting in tighter inventory control, shipping efficiency, order accuracy, and reporting information on customer orders. We are confident you will see the difference as you receive your orders this year! The 2012 selling season was another year of big changes in the rose business. With the rose industry continuing to shrink, we expect the supply of rose plants to remain tight nationwide. So we’re encouraging all of you to place your orders early to get exactly the roses you need. We appreciate your business, whether you’re a first-time or long-term customer. Weeks knows that our success is only measured by your success in selling through our fine products. We promise to be the ‘Tops’ in our efforts to provide great quality, broad selection, and efficient personable service. On behalf of everyone here at Weeks Roses, I’d like to wish you a successful selling season. Sincerely,
Charlie Anderson President 2

2013
Our 75th Anniversary! Weeks Roses is proud to be celebrating its 75th Anniversary. From a small beginning in Ontario, California, in 1938, Weeks has grown to be a nationally recognized leader and one of the largest wholesale rose growers and distributors in the U. S.
Weeks Research Department is located on the campus of Cal Poly Pomona, Weeks Research Department (under the direction of Tom Carruth since 1988 and assisted by Christian Bedard since 2000) is dedicated to bringing you the best in all types of new roses. Each year we hand pollinate about 50,000 flowers to produce around 250,000 seeds. After a thorough 8 to 10 year evaluation period only about 4 or 5 varieties emerge from the group as truly superior and market-worthy.

(cv. WEKrosopela) Pat.#19,776 Large-flowered Climber Just imagine sizable Hybrid-Tea-shaped blossoms carried in huge clusters on a very showy Climber. Now add a color that gives ‘eye candy’ a whole new meaning with swirls of impetuous pink spun with creamy ivory yellow. Top it all off with some of the most glorious gorgeous glossy foliage in rosedom – lush, clean & apple-green. This all lends a winning combination, especially when it comes to vigorous hardy easy-care Climbers. One of our very best yet! Comments: Blooms & reblooms well in the very first year.

Yes, we’re making a verbal pun on the beloved Joseph’s Coat, one of the most popular of all Climbers. Pun aside, for many years we’ve sought to capture the same great colors on a much improved plant. As you might suspect, this sister seedling of the famed Knock Out ® has some sisterly similarities – same great black spot resistance, same deep pink color & similar grey-green foliage. Yet, as is often the case with sisters, there are those all-important differences to tout – a few more petals & a more compact rounded habit. Elsewise, if you love one, you’ll likely love the other. This flame-red offspring of the famous Knock Out kicks the competition up a notch when it comes to disease resistance. Home Run has a phenomenal fortitude against the dreaded black spot (like its father). But, unlike Dad, it is also completely resistant to powdery mildew & has a higher level of tolerance to downy as well. Rounded, bushy, fast-to-flower and nearly always in color, it hits a grand slam in the landscape and scores lots of points in a pot, too. Comments: Coast to coast…it’s the cleanest. Yes, we’re having fun with words on this name. It’s a ‘party’ because of the big old-fashioned bright pink blooms that arrive in showy clusters. It’s ‘hardy’ because it was bred in Canada & has proven to be perfectly adapted for harsh winters. Party Hardy survives without winter protection in zone 3. The shrubby full plant keeps its clean green foliage to the ground, growing like mad as a result. It’ll stand head & shoulder above the other roses in very cold winter climates… actually preferring those conditions. Comments: At its best in the coldest climates. When you got something as good as Home Run, it’s a great surprise to discover a match. Now that one branch has produced enough plants to introduce the all new Pink Home Run. Ms. Pink is just like Mr. Red— identical in every way except for the flower color…& that color is soooo sweet. This half-pint cousin of the Floribunda is a real whippersnapper when it comes to bloomin’. She loves to show off with lots & lots of sassy scarlet & white blooms. Glitzy clusters bear very pointed buds that open into knee-high hydrangea-like heads of very long-lived flowers. Deep green glossy leaves dress up her flashy but compact habit. Pull her to the front of the border… put her in a pot…or place her amongst perennials. She’ll flaunt her flowers & steal the show. Comments: Perfect container plant.
