Foxconn on the surface provides workers with "convenience" such as accommodation, services and entertainment facilities, but in fact, workers' rest time and living space are all incorporated into factory management, serving the "just in time production" global Production strategy. To a large extent, workers' living space is just a continuation

Province daily livesShenzhen Longhua District of Guangdong the workshop. The of workers such as eating, sleeping, Factory Accommodation and washing are also arranged like an assembly line. The purpose is

not to meet the comprehensive needs of workers as human beings, but to minimize Cost, to regenerate the physical strength of workers in the shortest time, to meet the needs of factory production. Specifically, the meal you eat "you have to forget its taste", living in the dormitory "as if you were in jail", and even "doing volunteer work in exchange for the right of residence", and "one day off a week" makes workers "very There is little time for entertainment. " At the same time, due to the lack of public services, the market-oriented communities outside the factory have no living space for workers. Many places not only have poor public security and are vulnerable to robbery, but as long as the news raises wages, rents and daily consumption around the factory will all rise. . Therefore, the social space of workers inside and outside the factory is facing a double squeeze, so that in fact the space for social life is deprived of them, as if imprisoned in this foundry empire.

Conclusion Negative emotional stress is most pronounced in Longhua District. It is also the most densely populated region. Most employees graduate with a high school education. Most of them are teenagers.

Employee work and living environment 75% of the workers have "average rest days per week" of 1 days, and 8% of workers have "average rest days per month" of less than 4 days. In addition, 73.3% of workers have "average working hours per day" of 10 hours or more. The average monthly overtime hours for workers is 83.2 hours.

CHAPTER 2 RESEARCH

Research: How to treat psychological problems by improving the work and life status of sweatshop employees? Factors affecting mental health

Case Study

Avoid deep plans Consider shadows Orient buildings sensitively Be selective about window sizes Use rooflights shrewdly Use high-level windows to combine light and privacy

LIGHT

Don't overlook artificial light Consider the temperature of artificial light Use artificial light to create pockets of calm Ensure a good supply of fresh air Use tactile materials Consider comfort as well as aesthetics Think about the temperature of buildings

COMFORT

Keep the noise out Go open plan Create an atmosphere

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental illnesses are serious disorders which can affect your thinking, mood, and behavior.

Don't overlook spaces for inactivity Provide high ceilings where possible Bigger isn't always better Consider prospect and refuge theory

PSYCHOLOGY

Celebrate the entrance Don't overlook the importance of storage Give people better control over their environment Give people better control over their diets Give building users privacy

CONTROL

Provide people with a range of environments

Apple campus 2

Allow for the personalisation of spaces Design adaptable spaces Make buildings and their parts legible Use colour wisely (and sparingly)

AESTHETICS

Celebrate the simple Create moments of joy Avoid visual monotony Get the proportions right Design wider streets Encourage activity Design-in spaces for exercise

ACTIVITY

Design for the bicycle Connect to nearby facilities Use nature to educate, engage and involve Bring nature in Provide views of nature Integrate or give views of water

NATURE

Improve ecology and biodiversity Design gardens and parks as an escape from the urban

Research: Possible solution? Urban self design feedback system The urban self design feedback system is start with user in the workplace. It’s a human centred system. The system will collect users’ feedback of the space in the backstage of artificial intelligence(AI). The filtered data is re-ranked according to the weight of feedback. The feedback with the largest weight ratio will be extracted as the basis for a space change and submitted to the architect for review. After the review, it will be implemented and the workspace will gradually evolve into employees Expected built environment. Through constant remodelling and reprogramming, buildings could be tailored to their users’ needs, comfort, and expectations.

Case study: How to let employees work without stress? Foxconn new workflow Many components developed in the early stages of LEGO factories are also being used in new LEGO products: "It's a good thing to get rid of elements that we really don't use, because it makes room for new pieces, but it's also that chance to say, 'No, this is a classic LEGO element that we should keep, Let's use it." Jamie Berard, LEGO Design Manager Specialist Follow the LEGO's product concept. Foxconn new workflow would turn into modular smartphone production. Pack mobile phone parts into simple modules. Users can choose modules freely. At the same time, the hardware provides developers with editing opportunities. Form a circular system.

Living space The employee dormitory will be opened to the surrounding environment on the basis of the original building. That is to remove the original external wall, so that the light can fully enter the interior of the building. The location of the rooms can be adjusted according to the preferences of the residents.

32

Workspace The workplace will be a circular hollow space. Users can move their working area.
