THE KING’S HATS
Written by Sheila May Bird
Illustrated by Mark Beech
A picture book about the reign of King Charles III, publishing at the time of his coronation. Gently rhyming text will delight children as they explore all the roles their king might have to taken on through the hats he will have to wear. Accompanied by glorious and hilariously warm illustrations by celebrated artist, Mark Beech
King Charles the III is now King of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, but he is finding his new crown just a little heavy to manage and he is worried that he might not be as beloved as his dear mama, Queen Elizabeth II. But his good friend Tom the gardener is on hand to show him that kings must wear all sorts of hats and that he must be brave and allow himself to be the king he was born to be.
Sheila May Bird started to write children’s stories in 2005 and has worked for many publishers including OUP and HarperCollins. She does most of her writing in a little blue shed in her garden. It is decorated by letters and pictures from her readers and through the window, she can see fields with rabbits, peacocks and deer. When she isn’t thinking up stories, she loves walking in the countryside.
Mark Beech uses a traditional pen and ink style along with Photoshop to create his mostly figurative work, which has proven popular in the world of children’s publishing, advertising and the greetings card industry. Mark’s technique allows him to express both the humour and charm in his work whilst retaining a feeling of spontaneity.
Mark’s illustrations have graced the covers of some of the biggest names in children’s literature, such as Enid Blyton and Terry Pratchett

A little girl lives next door to Mr Mornington, who has played saxophone all over the world. These days, he’s a bit tired of all that travelling, so now he plays it just for her. Together, they have a favourite song: one that conjures up emories of all their favourite things. But when Mr Mornington moves into a care home, his young friend wonders if he’ll be able to remember her - or any of his favourite things at all… perhaps there’s something she can do to help?

ACTION DUDE
THE BOY WHO EATS DANGER WITH FRIES AND A SHAKE
Written and illustrated by Andy Riley
First in a three book series for 7+ from the creator of King Flashypants and The Bunny Suicides. Black and orange throughout – with the occasional extra splash of colour. For readers of Wimpy Kid and Dogman.
First name... Action. Second name... Dude. What would happen if you put Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Die Hard-era Bruce Willis in a bucket and stirred them together with a big stick? You’d get something like Action Dude. That’s his real name. He used to be Charlie Munderdrew, but he changed it.
Action Dude lives for danger and excitement. He’s always jumping out of helicopters, crashing ships, running along the tops of cranes and walking out of buildings just before they explode. He’s nine years old and also the bravest action hero there ever was. Except that he’s terrified of spiders (but don’t ever tell anyone that).
When a theme park full of robots goes haywire, it’s up to Action Dude to come to the rescue. After all, no one else is crazy enough to just walk in there and save everyone.

The race is on to solve the case and get back in time for the party.
In Peggy’s next case, there is a strange trail of smelly green slime in the Woods and none of the animals are able to sleep. Are these two things related? And does the solution lie in the lake or in the library? It’s up to Peggy to brave the spooky moonlit trail and find out.

For today is the day she will meet Timir, a real talking dragon. Or at least when Luma is around that’s what he is. When anyone else is there, he becomes an ordinary grey puppy with a fluffy tail, who loves chasing squirrels and bouncing on trampolines.
It’s a big secret to keep and Luma’s clever cousin Arjun is soon suspicious of this peculiar puppy, who doesn’t quite behave like any other dog. Luckily, Luma’s grandmother, Nani, is there to help, and to Luma’s surprise, Nani might just know a little dragon magic of her own...

THE ASPARAGUS BUNCH
Written by Jessica Scott-Whyte Cover illustrated by Russell CobbA fresh and funny novel for readers aged 10+, perfect for fans of The Rosie Project and Adrian Mole.
Having been kicked out of six different schools, Leon is labelled as having an attitude problem by almost everyone he comes into contact with. Dr Snot (yes, his real name!) gives it a different label and diagnoses Leon as autistic. Leon doesn’t care for either label, in the same way that he doesn’t care for Tim Burton, supermarket trolleys, train fanatics or Bounty bars.
When school bully Glen Jenkins humiliates Leon in the school canteen and almost destroys his fellow school-mate Lawrence, Leon very reluctantly agrees to the formation of a club: The Asparagus Bunch. Club motto: Just Do It, Differently. Teaching Glen a lesson (differently) is top of their to do list. That is until Leon uncovers clues that his mother might be about to embark on a relationship and enlists the other club members to help Leon expose her treachery.
How he manages to navigate school woes and family drama – and astonishingly ends up with not one but two friends – is nothing short of a miracle, or maybe just simply down to being different.

AESOP’S FABLES
A ROBERT INGPEN ILLUSTRATED CLASSIC
Written by Caroline Lawrence Illustrated by Robert IngpenA brand new gift edition of Aesop’s Fables, retold by millioncopy-selling author Caroline Lawrence.
With full colour artwork by Han Anderson Award-winning artist, Robert Ingpen.
Aesop’s Fables belong to every one of us. They were once simply the words of a slave; a man who lived 600 years before Christ. They were written down by a Greek, and then a Roman, and they spread, like the armies of Rome, across the known world. Each little fable is bound up with 2000 years of wisdom and truth. From these we know that a mouse is too weak to withstand the strength of a lion, yet too mighty to be bound by ropes. We learn that the violence of the North Wind is no match for the gentle beaming of the unrelenting Sun. We know in our hearts that the sheep must push through life, and try to overcome its many dangers, that the wolf will trick and deceive to survive, and that we cannot pretend to understand the logic of the gods if we do not hold ourselves to the same standard.
It is a book about what it is to be human, cherished by each generation and passed on to the next.
Million-selling author Caroline Lawrence writes with the aim of entertaining children and teaching them.
Caroline is best known for her Roman Mysteries series which was televised by the BBC in 2007 and 2008. Filmed in Tunisia, Bulgaria and Malta, it was the most expensive BBC children’s TV series to date. In 2009, Caroline won the Classical Association Prize for ‘a significant contribution to the public understanding of Classics’.
Robert Ingpen was born in 1936 in Geelong, Australia. He studied illustration art and book design at The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. A worldrenowned artist and author, he has designed, illustrated and written over 100 books. Robert lives and works in Anglesea, near his home town of Geelong.
