One of the newest names in town took over the oldest domestic building in Hull when Shoot the Bull arrived at the Old House in 2016. The pub is already scooping awards and is a fantastic destination to sample a gin from the surprisingly large and well -selected collection with up to 30 often changing bottles on offer. And if it’s gin you’re after try the mouth-watering gin-cured Salmon dish upstairs in their dining rooms.

Tony, a retired Army Officer, and Sarah Brotherton create a unique range of spirits using an ancient mineral water from the Swale Valley. Selected Yorkshire botanicals, 100% vapour infusion and quadruple distillation make Purple Ram London Dry Gin; memorably smooth with notable flavours. Desert Ram Army Strength Gin, equally smooth, with flavours of bitter orange and sweet rose, is bottled at 50% abv. Visitors are most welcome, please call ahead.

A multi-award winning independent deli and real ale off licence, located in the village of Bubwith, South East of York. The shop sells real ale and cider to take away in jugs, has a vast array of bottled beer, cider and perry; as well as over 300 wines, champagnes, ports and spirits. The real speciality here though is ‘Mother’s Ruin’ – Gin!

In a nod to their geographical location, Sir Robin of Locksley Gin is named in honour of a favourite Yorkshire lad and local Sheffield legend, Robin Hood. The tipple provides up-front juniper with more delicate aromas of elderflower bubbling through. Deliciously smooth and round on the palate - warm cassia are notes soothed with dandelion. Pink grapefruit adds an underlying sweetness and lingering citrus finish. Balanced yet distinctively unique.
