Yorkshire cities, where people, culture, history, shopping and the future come together. Fantastic shops, award winning attractions, lively art, music and drama scenes, plus some of the country’s best restaurants, shops, clubs and bars. But it’s the special character of cities like Leeds, York, Ripon, Wakefield, Sheffield, Bradford and Hull that really sets them apart. Yorkshire cities and towns are warm, welcoming places. Whether you’re stepping into a traditional pub in York or the foyer of an opera in Leeds, you’ll get a friendly greeting. There’s always something happening. Leeds is perfect for stylish shopping and decadent dining, from contemporary art to a vibrant nightlife, the city has an abundance of things to do. The compact centre is easy to explore, and boasts breathtaking architecture including Leeds Town Hall, and the stylish Victoria Quarter with some of the world's finest brands. Along the huge pedestrian-friendly Briggate and Kirkgate Market - the biggest of its kind in Europe - you are sure to be spoilt for choice. Leeds’ extensive food menu has global influences, so loosen your belts. Close by in Bradford, this city does not fail to surprise. Recently titled a UNESCO City of Film, Bradford is a thriving cultural destination with a packed events calendar,
award winning museums, galleries and impressive theatres. City Park is a highquality, six-acre public space in the heart of Bradford which contains the largest man-made water feature in any UK city. Unrivalled for its curry cuisine, the city has just been crowned the Curry Capital of Great Britain 2011. The surrounding area has a lot to offer including the UNESCO World Heritage Site Saltaire, a perfectly preserved Victorian village and home to Salts Mill. There you will find Gallery 1853, home to one of the biggest collections of Bradford born David Hockney’s artwork in the world. The city of York is a delight to visit at any time, be it to soak up some history, enjoy afternoon tea, indulge in a spot of shopping or simply to marvel at its beautiful architecture and surroundings. 2012 marks a spectacular programme of events in the city, celebrating a momentous occasion. Eight hundred years ago, York was granted a Royal Charter by King John in 1212, allowing the city to take charge of its own affairs. Hull is a cosmopolitan city with access to colourful seaside resorts, a jawdropping coastline and miles and miles of tranquil countryside. Whether it’s sandcastles on the beach or a night on the tiles, clambering over cliffs or strolling around a stately home, we’ve got it covered.

Or if the outdoors and nature floats your boat, with the expansive Peak District and masses of outdoor attractions in the county, Sheffield offers every option to suit your needs. For delicious dining visit Silversmiths restaurant in the city centre or head for the multi-award winning gastro pub, The Milestone. shops, cafés, restaurants, and pubs, including the One Eyed Rat, a traditional real ale pub famous for it's old fashioned charm. Time travel back some 700 years with a visit to the historic Ripley Castle or explore Yorkshire’s first World Heritage site at Fountains Abbey. The Wakefield area is best known for art and food. The annual Wakefield Festival of Food, Drink and Rhubarb, Pontefract Liquorice Festival, the breathtaking Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the award winning Hepworth Wakefield have put the city firmly on the map. Within these Yorkshire cities, you’ll find both contemporary and historic accommodation. It could be a stylish modern hotel inside a listed building or elegant town house boutique hotel. There are purpose built modern hotels and cosy B&Bs in charming old Victorian houses. Old or new, Yorkshire gives you the best of both.

Like Harrogate’s, they combine Victorian splendour with modern health, beauty and hair treatments. The baths are now known as Spa 1877 and the building is one of Sheffield’s major Victorian landmarks. The original Turkish Baths were opened in that same year and described as ‘the finest in the kingdom’. A recent addition to our array of spa destinations is the five star Cedar Court Grand in the historic City of York. The Spa at the Grand is set in the hotel’s atmospheric vaults. This secluded and tranquil environment is the perfect city centre getaway and an ideal way to escape the rush and stress of everyday life - the only evidence of its past life are the thick vault doors which now make ideal soundproofing!
In the East of the county Sessions Spa is situated in the historic market town of Beverley.
