There is no charge and if we are unable to offer a place, you are welcome to come and watch. All events are open to Staff, Parents and Pupils and the Wider Community


6TH JANUARY - 1ST JUNE GWA 3RD FORM ART EXHIBITION NATURAL FORMS All Day, Cultural Living Room Responding to the theme Natural Forms, our 3rd Form have developed a highly ambitious portfolio of Textiles, Photography and Fine Art for you to enjoy.

6TH JANUARY - 14TH FEBRUARY V&A 4TH FORM PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION All Day, V&A Café The V&A will showcase a range of experimental photographs by the 4th Form, inspired by a trip to Oxford and an ongoing project entitled Elemental.

TUESDAY 14TH JANUARY MUSICAL THEATRE MASTERCLASS WITH ALEX AITKEN 2pm - 5pm, Cultural Living Room An opportunity for students who perform and love musical theatre repertoire to work with, and be coached by, Alex Aitken – one of National Youth Music Theatre’s Musical Directors.

TUESDAY 14TH JANUARY OSSIAN ENSEMBLE WORKSHOP 1:30pm - 4:30pm, Concert Room This is the first of two occasions when we welcome the contemporary music group “The Ossian Ensemble”, with their director and composer Darren Bloom, to work with composition students.


TUESDAY 4TH FEBRUARY VIOLIN MASTERCLASS WITH REMUS AZOITEI 10:30am - 5:30pm, Lewis Room We are delighted to be offering one to one Masterclasses with distinguished musician, Remus Azoitei. Remus is a violin professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and the Artistic Director of the Enescu Society.

24TH FEBRUARY - 26TH JUNE V&A ART EXHIBITION ‘STEPPING FORWARD’ All day, V&A Café An opportunity to engage with the work of our ambitious, skilled and imaginative A-level and I.B. Artists, Designers and Photographers.

THURSDAY 27TH FEBRUARY YOUNG SINGERS CHORAL DAY WITH PETER HUNT 10am - 5:30pm, GW Annenberg We are delighted to welcome experienced choral animateur, Peter Hunt to spend a day working with Prep School and local Primary School children. A varied programme of songs, musicianship and vocal gymnastics will culminate in an afternoon performance at 5pm.

TUESDAY 3RD MARCH COMPOSITION WORKSHOP WITH THE OSSIAN ENSEMBLE 1:30pm - 5:30pm, Concert Room This is the second of our composition masterclasses withThe Ossian Ensemble, with their director and composer Darren Bloom. Their aim is to work with composition students to explore the sonorities of the flute, clarinet, violin, cello, percussion and piano. Aimed at exmination candidates, there will be a short concert of the compositions at 5pm.


TUESDAY 17TH MARCH CHAMBER MUSIC MASTERCLASS WITH THE MAGGINI QUARTET 2pm - 5:45pm, Concert Room/Lewis Room The Maggini Quartet are regular visitors to Wellington College, having been coming to the school for 15 years. As one of this country’s finest string quartets, they will be working with chamber musicians, teaching technique, stylistic playing and effective communication through excellent ensemble playing.

17TH - 20TH MARCH VISUAL ARTS EXHIBITION All day, Art School This private viewing of an exhibition created and curated by Louisa to conclude her course.


Welcome to Artsfull, our brochure introducing Arts events at Wellington College which aims to teach, inspire and enrich your understanding of the Arts. Each term we will be providing opportunities for students to have short lessons/ workshops with inspiring artists. Book early if you wish to be involved. Each term there will be events, shows and concerts either put on by students at Wellington or by other schools or professionals. Whatever is on, you will be most welcome. THURSDAY 23RD JANUARY MONTGOMERY RECITAL COMPETITION 7:30pm, Waterloo Hall The Montgomery Recital Competition final is the most prestigious music competition of the year. Founded in 1964 by Brigadier A. H, Montgomery to mark the departure from the College of his musical son, James, this competition is adjudicated this year by the conductor, Mark Forkgen.

28TH & 29TH JANUARY JUNIOR PLAY ‘I AM DAVID’ 7:30pm, CLT

‘I am David and I belong to myself ’. All David has ever known is the high fences of a concentration camp - until one night he escapes.Terrified that they will catch him, he begins to run. And as he runs, he learns about freedom and hope, betrayal and loneliness. This brand new adaptation of Anne Holm’s much-loved children’s book follows David’s journey to find a place he can truly belong.

30TH JANUARY & 12TH MARCH V&A ACOUSTIC SESSION 9pm, V&A Café Wellington’s café is transformed into a performance space to showcase the breadth and variety of song writing in the school.


MONDAY 10TH FEBRUARY SWEENEY TODD DRESS REHEARSAL 7:30pm, GW Annenberg

Stephen Sondheim’s masterpiece Sweeney Tood,The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is this year’s college musical. A Victorian revenge thriller based on the original penny dreadful. Sweeney returns to London after a 15 year sentence on a trumped up charge in the hope of being reunited with his wife and daughter, but nothing prepares him for what he finds. Local schools are warmly invited to attend this dress rehearsal - Advisory year 7 and above (11+).

TUESDAY 25TH FEBRUARY CHORAL EVENSONG 6pm, Chapel All are welcome to this beautiful and meditative service featuring music by the finest composers of the English choral tradition. A rare opportunity to hear Wellington College Chapel Choir singing a full choral evensong on ‘home turf ’ during the week.

WEDNESDAY 4TH MARCH 100 (4TH FORM PLAY) 7:30pm, CLT 4th Form GCSE Drama students present scenes from the play 100, which they are studying as part of their course.


WEDNESDAY 4TH MARCH BREAKING THE HABIT: STILE ANTICO IN CONCERT WITH WELLINGTON CHAPEL CHOIR 7:30pm, Chapel

Tickets £10

The acclaimed choir Stile Antico (singing alongside our own Chapel Choir) will shine a light on an often-neglected repertoire, focusing on the music written for three queens, Margaret of Austria, Mary I and Elizabeth I, bringing to life women from the Renaissance through song.

THURSDAY 12TH MARCH CURRICULUM DANCE SHOWCASE 7:30pm, CLT

This short celebration of curriculum dance showcases the work taking place in academic dance classes. The variety of work exemplifies the diverse nature of Wellington students’ interests and styles.

The Music Department’s Spring Concert features the College’s main ensembles (including the school symphony orchestra) performing a programme of well known pieces including the 1st movement of Rachmaninov’s 2nd Piano Concerto with pianist Ollie Dewar.

Tickets £12

In support of the Crowthorne Community Minibus Charity, Wellington Jazz Orchestra and Concert Band will be performing arrangements from a wide range of genres, including Jazz, Funk, Pop, Latin & Rock.

MONDAY 23RD MARCH CHAPEL CHOIR EVENSONG AT CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL, OXFORD 6pm, Christ Church Oxford A chance to hear Wellington College Chapel Choir sing in the beautiful surroundings of Oxford’s ancient cathedral. All are welcome to this beautiful and meditative service of choral evensong.

TUESDAY 24TH MARCH GUITAR CONCERT 7:30pm, Old Gym The Guitar Concert promises an eclectic mixture of styles as the guitarists of Wellington College present a celebration of this wonderful instrument, in group work or as an accompaniment to song.

The Monday Concert series is a perfect opportunity for our musicians to perform in an informal setting, and a chance for an audience to hear a wide variety of music across different genres form different year groups.
