Help inspire a new artwork in Newtown!

Artist Liana Leiataua is returning to connect with the Newtown community to co-design a new mural to welcome people into the Newtown Library. Liana created the original eye-catching mural in 1991, which was a colourful focal point on this busy corner in Newtown.

Liana is collaborating with Gorse (Ruth Robertson-Taylor) to design a new mural – and they want you to share your ideas! They are keen for the new design to reflect what people love about the Newtown community.

Your creative canvases will be on display at the Newtown Library throughout February 2021.

How to enter: • Get creative on the blank canvas which you can download here. You can also pick up copies from Newtown Library, Newtown Community and Cultural Centre, local churches and cafes around Newtown. • Drop your art ideas to the Newtown Library at 13 Constable Street, or Newtown Community and Cultural Centre at the corner of Rintoul and Columbo Streets. • Email it to the arts@wcc.govt.nz

Entries need to be submitted by Monday 1 February 2021.
