ASHWAGANDHA

One of the most important herbs in Ayurveda, ashwagandha is a small shrub native to India and North Africa that’s been used for over 3000 years to help relieve stress, increase energy levels and improve concentration.
BLACK COHOSH
A species of flowering plant native to eastern North America that’s traditionally prescribed to help relieve menstrual cramps, menopausal symptoms and arthtritic pain.
CALENDULA
A member of the daisy family, calendula is a popular natural remedy for the relief of inflammation in the mouth, throat and stomach. It’s also a topical treatment for the relief of rashes and wounds.
DANDELION
The health uses of the popular flower include helping to ease stomach upset and gas, joint pain, muscle aches and eczema. It also has a laxative effect, and is often used as a digestive tonic.
ECHINACEA
A very popular medicinal herb, echinacea is most commonly prescribed to help treat colds and flu. Also known as American coneflower, the member of the daisy family is used to assist with everything from indigestion and pain to rheumatism and yeast infection.
FENUGREEK
The fenugreek plant is a Chinese medicine remedy for skin conditions and a range of other health concerns. It’s most commonly prescribed for digestive problems like stomach upset, constipation, loss of appetite and gastritis.
GINSENG
Another traditional Chinese medicine remedy, ginseng is recognised for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Some studies suggest that it could help protect the brain against the damage caused by free radicals. The most popular uses of the herb today are for increased energy and focus, as well as to help boost the immune system.
HAWTHORN
Also known as May blossom, hawthorn grows as either a shrub or a tree in England and continental Europe. It’s used for circulatory disorders and heart concerns, particularly tightness or pressure in the heart area. Some recommend it for normalising high blood pressure, and combine it with ginkgo biloba to boost memory.
ISATIS ROOT
Originating in China and India and now cultivated in the West, isatis root plays an important role in both Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine. It’s considered a ‘cooling’ herb, and a go-to for cooling the blood and treating what are known as damp-heat conditions like jaundice. It’s a wellknown antiviral and antibacterial, and useful in treating conditions like colds, flu and sore throats.
JASMINE
The well-known flower is a popular topical treatment for skin concerns like rashes and sunburns. It’s also rich in antioxidants, and sipping jasmine tea is said to help fight free radicals.
KAVA KAVA
A herbal remedy made from the roots of a type of plant found in the Pacific Ocean islands, kava kava literally means ‘intoxicating pepper.’ Inhabitants of islands like Fiji and Tonga have discovered its usefulnes in treating anxiety, stress, sleep challenges and PMS.
LAVENDER
Native to the Mediterranean region, lavender is an aromatic tonic herb with a widely loved sweet scent. It’s most commonly used to help relax spasms, support digestion, and ease anxiety, exhaustion and tension headaches.
MILK THISTLE
A flowering herb related to the daisy and ragweed family, milk thistle is native to Mediterranean countries. It’s a popular natural treatment for liver problems including cirrhosis, jaundice, hepatitis and gallbladder disorders.
NEEM
Neem is an Ayurvedic herb that’s been part of traditional remedies dating back almost 5000 years. Hailing from the neem tree, it’s renowned for its anti-viral, anti-bacterial and immuno-stimulating properties. It’s most widely used in the treatment of infections, burns and skin conditions.
OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT
Olive leaf extract’s therapeutic properties are varied and vast, and include protecting the digestve and central nervous systems, reducing the risk of inflammation, preventing oxidation or cell damage, and reducing pain.
PASSION FLOWER
A climbing vine native to the southeastern United States as well as Central and South America, passion flower is often used to help treat sleep disorders, anxiety, pain and even opioid withdrawal symptoms.
QIAN HU
Also known as hogfennel root, qian hu is a traditional Chinese medicine herb for assisting in the relief of coughing, wheezing and headaches.
REISHI
A particularly popular fungi with a variety of health benefits that can include boosting the immune system, assisting in the treatment of depression and fatigue, supporting heart health and balancing blood sugar. It’s also a powerful antioxidant.
SAGE
Originating from the northern Mediterranean coast, sage is a member of the mint family that’s been used for medicinal purposes since medieval times. Today, it’s known for its high antioxidant capacity and ability to help relieve the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, lower cholesterol and blood glucose, and alleviate menstrual symptoms - to name a few.
TEA TREE
Extracted from the Australian plant, tea tree oil is a popular treatment for everything from athlete’s foot and fungal infections to acne, dandruff, thrush, boils, lice and eczema.
UVA URSI
Uva ursi is a woody shrub originating from the northern latitudes and high mountains of Europe, Asia and America. The dried leaves are used as a diuretic and in the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract, urethritis and cystitis.
VALERIAN
One of the most well known of all the calming herbs, valerian contains a range of active molecules said to assist in the treatment of insomnia, anxiety and pain. It’s been held in high esteem since the Middle Ages, and is fondly known by proponents as All Heal.
WILD THYME
Grown in the Caribbean, wild thyme is a herbal remedy said to assist in the treatment of headaches, excessive menstruation, respiratory conditions and muscular aches.
XI XIN
Also known as Chinese wild ginger, xi xin is a traditional Chinese medicine herb prescribed to treat body aches, toothache and congestion.
YERBA MATE
A medicinal plant native to South America, yerba mate has become a popular natural solution for cleansing the colon, boosting immunuty, treating allergies, alleviating anxiety and more.
ZE LAN
Also known as buglewood, ze lan is a traditional Chinese medicine herb used in the treatment of gynaecological disorders including excessive menstrual pain, irregular menses and postpartum abdominal pain. It’s also said to regulate water circulation and reduce swelling.
