WILDFIRES by Gregg Norman

Wildfires by Gregg Norman

to think that fires in our Canadian woods

could send smoke to choke

a Manhattan cabbie

a Jersey gangster

a Georgia peach

tumbling gouts of flame fly

along a long fiery front

ravaging our green sward

belching a mantra OUT OF CONTROL

from around the world they come

in yellow suits and hard hats

to dance a haka in the fire’s face

pundits chat about cycles and change

but does anyone listen to the fire?
