Can you imagine working for a newspaper and having your own column in your teens? Well Stephanie Edwards achieved just that.

“I’ve always enjoyed writing. I started writing professionally when I landed my first newspaper column at the age of 13.”

It was at that early age that Stephanie began to pave her way in the writing world.

“I’ve worked in journalism, marketing or communications my entire career.”

Stephanie pursued her writing career with the help of a former colleague from her early journalist days and who is now her editor. She took Stephanie under her wing and supported her, but also wasn’t afraid to point out her weaknesses.

Stephanie likes to draw inspiration from everyday life that people will relate to, and having an overactive imagination is certainly an asset.

“My first book was inspired by a trip to a beach house in the South Carolina Lowcountry with a spooky backyard. The Spanish moss dripped down the trees, painting the perfect scene for a ghost story. The next two books in the series came to me a little at a time.”

Through perseverance and hard work, and while while working a full-time job, Stephanie has written the Palm Court trilogy and is currently working on a standalone novel that takes place in1960s Appalachia

Stephanie loves engaging with her readers and supporting other authors. Her Facebook group Southern Sisters Book Group is a friendly place with an essence of Southern charm. Here you will find her mingling with the many members and often giving fellow authors advice based on her personal experience.

“Find the path to publishing that works for you. Talk to other authors to see what they’ve done and watch lots of YouTube videos to hear others talk about their book launch journey.

Don’t be afraid to mess up. If you don’t try publishing a book, you’ll never know if it would have worked for you.”

This is some great advice.
