New Zealanders are constantly seeking expert advice on exercise and nutrition which is increasing demand for qualified sports and recreation professionals. A career in exercise science will see you become part of a national push to combat poor health.

Stand out in the industry Our qualifications are well recognised and respected within the industry. The combination of hands-on and theoretical learning gives you an edge as an exercise professional in New Zealand. At the end of each programme you will be eligible to apply to the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs). REPs is recognised by the International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals (ICREPs).

As an Exercise Science student, you will have the benefit of free admission to Dynamics outside of usual class activities during your studies.

Help to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of others. Learn anatomy, physiology and nutrition to understand what is happening in a sportsperson’s body and how to fuel it with healthy foods. Apply a variety of training methods to design effective exercise programmes. Gain the knowledge and skills to excel in the sports and fitness industry.

Get ahead in the industry by building on the knowledge gained in the Certificate of Exercise Science. Be introduced to exercise psychology to recognise the role of the mind in sports performance. Learn correct form for prevention and treatment of sports injuries.

> Learn about anatomy, exercise physiology and nutrition

Gain insight into the social, cultural and business side of personal training by working with real clients. Graduate with the skills and confidence to manage your own small business.

Entry Requirements

50 NCEA credits at Level 2 or above, including 12 credits each in English, Science and one other subject.

Or equivalent academic or professional experience of a relevant kind.

You must also have completed a Certificate in First Aid by the end of your first trimester of study.
