PORCELAIN OBJECTS
Glisten in Canyon #1 Objects porcelain, glaze 3.5x 5x 2.8 cm 2014 This series all began in an accident. I found out that the texture of rock could be duplicated as the moisture of clay is in a specific condition. Thereafter, I used a small knife to cut and shape the porcelain which moisture is appropriate. By repeating these steps, I built my own little canyon.

In the journey of life span, the limited condition of time makes life meaningful. Either happiness or sadness, every moment, which create the difference between each other, enriches the essence of life of all living beings. The connection, an irreplaceable element, between each other plays a significant and influential role in one’s development in their life time. If one fails to interact with other, chances for him or her to feel isolated and negative might a lot higher than their counterparts who are willing to be equipped with well interaction with their classmates, colleagues and, of course, their beloved relatives. Meanwhile, this individual might suffer heavy injured in mental section or even in physical field. We should beware of that all the relationship connected each of us is of crucial importance. I reckon that as the awareness of significance of relationship increases,
quality life comes. Not only one’s health condition might improve and enhance, but the whole society might fulfil with love. Improving the relationship of wearers has always been the primary reason, which is the core of both Fission and Fission 2. The former represents each stage of connection, from strangers to become friends and even soul mates, while the latter renders the vision of combination of emotion and interaction in an extreme way. Through the mixture of porcelain and paper, the delicate of affectionate of interaction seems to become more vivid and impressive. While viewers attracts by the details on it, which reminds them to rethink about the beauty of relationship surrounded them.

The inspiration of Fission is the cell division. Cell division is a process that a cell divides into two or more cells, which seems assemble as the process of affectionate interaction. Before becoming mates or friends with others, it does take some time to recognize and interact. During the conversation, we are granted plenty of feedbacks as we offer earnest affections to others. The sharing and exchanging behaviour look like the act of division of cell. By time to time, the relationships between individuals improve and enhance. As a result, I capture the movement of cell division to transform the abstract idea. However, the most difficulty is to render the movement into a vivid and specific way. Eventually, I chose porcelain and paper to demonstrate my concept. Through several experiments, I found out a measure to illustrate the splendour scene of affectionate interaction with specific proportion of combination of these two materials.

After I finished Fission, I kept thinking about what is the next step. How to attract more viewers to rethink the significance of relationship in my forward works, Fission 2? Using the delicacy of mixture of porcelain and paper represents the mental section of interaction. In addition to the unique texture, their organic forms translate the emotional connection thoroughly, such as twisted, folded, squeezed, and so on. These two collections are my presentation of love, which is for my beloved relatives. Even though capturing time is impossible, crafts and arts are great recorder, which could keep those golden moments permanently.
