Seasons of the Storm by Elle Cosimano

One cold, crisp night, Jack Sommers was faced with a choice—live forever according to the ancient, magical rules of Gaia, or die. Jack chose to live, and in exchange, he became a Winter—an immortal physical embodiment of the season on Earth. Every year, he must hunt the Season who comes before him. Summer kills Spring. Autumn kills Summer. Winter kills Autumn. And Spring kills Winter. Jack and Fleur, a Winter and a Spring, fall for each other against all odds. To be together, they’ll have to escape the cycle that’s been forcing them apart. But their creator won’t let them go without a fight.

2The Chain by Adrian McKinty It’s something parents do every morning: Rachel Klein drops her daughter at the bus stop and heads into her day. But a cell phone call from an unknown number changes everything: it’s a woman on the line, informing her that she has Kylie bound and gagged in her back seat, and the only way Rachel will see her again is to follow her instructions exactly: pay a ransom, and find another child to abduct. This is no ordinary kidnapping: the caller is a mother herself, whose son has been taken, and if Rachel doesn’t do as she’s told, the boy will die. “You are not the first. And you will certainly not be the last.” Rachel is now part of The Chain, an unending and ingenious scheme that turns victims into criminals -- and is making someone else very rich in the process. The rules are simple, the moral challenges impossible; find the money fast, find your victim , and then commit a horrible act you’d have thought yourself incapable of just twenty-four hours ago. But what the masterminds behind The Chain know is that parents will do anything for their children. It turns out that kidnapping is only the beginning.

Bear Mountain Ranch Golf Course

provides great golf with spectacular scenery

According to head golf professional Rick Reed, it has been a busy summer at Bear Mountain Ranch Golf Course.

“People are gravitating toward golf which is great,” Reed said.

The course is a championship level 18-hole public play course. It accommodates all ability levels with five tee boxes per hole.

Reed said that the Bear Mountain course is unique in that it is built on the side of a mountain, so there is a 700-foot elevation change from the bottom to the top of the course. This gives a different look and feel to the course and enhances the scenic views of the lake and surrounding orchards.

The golf course provides habitat for many animals, so a day of golfing can also be a day of viewing birds and other wildlife.

The Bear Mountain Ranch Golf Course Cafe serves breakfast and lunch sandwiches, hot dogs and soup.

The golf course is nestled among the hills surrounding Lake Chelan.

Reed said that he has been a PGA professional since 1995, when he came to the sport from professional skiing. He came to Bear Mountain Ranch about five months ago from his most recent position at Sandpines Golf course in Florence, Oregon.

Reed spends his time at the golf course overseeing operations and providing private instruction.

A PGA Junior League golf program was put on hold this year due to the pandemic, but usually runs each year during the summer months.
