Wendover Dementia Action Alliance is an umbrella organisation which coordinates support for people living with Alzheimer's. It also links with similar organisations all over the UK to share good practice. Wendover Dementia Support is the largest local member of this organisation.

Bring on the music

This is an update to the article which appeared on page 20 of the August print edition of Wendover News about music players bought by Wendover Dementia Support (WDS), https://www.wendoverds. org.uk/ for their members thanks to a grant from Rotary in Wendover and District.

The music players are endorsed by the Alzheimer’s Society and are especially designed for use by those with Dementia as they have simple controls and can be used either with the built in speaker or with headphones for private listening. They are ideal as they can be loaded with up to 1500 music tracks of their own choice by the users’ carer so the choice is effectively endless and can cater for all tastes. Wendover Dementia Support are supplying the players pre-loaded with the sing-along tracks used at the Monday Club Café for starters so the music will be familiar as soon as they are turned on. At a time when the café has had to be suspended due to the COVID virus the players represent an ideal way to bring music to their members in an easy to operate fashion.
