Preface

There are mainly three common structural forms of gas station canopies:

1. The main features of the three structural types of canopies

 The cantilevered steel beams around the steel structure can be made into a variable cross-section form, which not only saves the amount of steel used, but also reduces the height of the eaves around the canopy, making the canopy look thinner, more transparent and brighter.  Disadvantages: Relative to the grid structure, the shape of the section steel structure is generally simpler, and the structural span is relatively small; the

2. The main features of the grid structure canopy:

The grid structure is a space-linked structure, and the rods are mainly subjected to axial force, and the way of force transmission is simple and convenient;

The cross-section size is relatively small, and these spatially intersecting rods support each other, which organically combines the stressed rods with the supporting system, which is light in weight, strong in rigidity, good in integrity, and good in seismic performance;

Simple construction and installation; grid rods and nodes are easy to finalize and commercialize, and can be mass-produced in factories, which is conducive to improving production efficiency

The layout of the grid frame is flexible, and the roof is flat, which is conducive to ceiling, installation of pipes and equipment;

 It is suitable for structures with various spans, especially for complex plane shapes.

 The architectural shape of the grid frame is light, beautiful and generous, which is convenient for construction processing and decoration.

 The theory of grid structure design has been relatively mature after years of research and practice.

 The disadvantage is that the number of rods is large, which is susceptible to oil and gas corrosion. The later maintenance workload is large, and the high-altitude installation workload is large; when the span is large, the height of the eaves is high.

4. Concluding comments

 From an economic point of view: the three structural forms are greatly affected by the area. When the area exceeds 400 square meters, the grid structure is relatively the most economical, followed by the steel structure, and finally the concrete structure.

 From the appearance image: the height of the eaves of the light steel structure is small, and it is light and beautiful.

 From the perspective of later maintenance and repair: light steel structure is better than grid structure and concrete structure.

 From the perspective of construction quality control: the grid structure has many nodes and rods, and the light steel structure is better than the grid structure.

 From the perspective of structural safety analysis: the concrete structure is good (but not good in other aspects), followed by the steel structure, and the grid structure again.

 From the aspect of construction period: factory processing of section steel structure and grid structure, on-site construction of concrete structure, short on-site construction period of section steel structure and grid structure.

 In summary, when the area is less than 400 square meters, especially when the canopy is a pass-through type, considering the safety of the structure, life span, and later maintenance, the canopy eaves surface is light and thin (600mm or 800mm), and the image is good.
