A Significant Heritage Classic ~ nestled in the niche of traditionalism reflecting an upbeat mood of today. Satisfying both worlds... a distinctive silhouette honoring the early 20th century, restoring memories; of the moment, yet timeless in design. Radiators as art. Echoing columns. As they rim the meandering path, tumbling gardens guide you to resort life at waters edge and the power of good moorage. Extraordinary, striking full cabana for play, cooking, sleeping. Innovative, stunning kitchen with corner banquette (a favorite spot of the Owners). Handsome full fledge theatre with loge seating, main floor library, spectacular offices (currently his and hers...without question, both 5 star spots). A melange of astounding views...a wide arena of fireworks across and around the lake; Christmas ships that seem still, pausing right in front of you. A party home, for family jamborees...watching congregations of clouds as eagles play hide and go seek; the reflection of blue skies on the rippled waters; the destination spot of dreams.

The Laurelhurst Community Club (LCC), formerly the Laurelhurst Improvement Club, was established in 1920 to foster the improvement and beautification of the Laurelhurst neighborhood. It seeks to identify and address community concerns and to provide a forum to promote solutions by working with the community at large, other civic organizations, and government. LCC Trustees and many others serve on committees, represent the community in other organizations, and work on community improvement or special projects or specific issues such as crime prevention, transportation, or land use. These neighbors contribute hundreds of hours each year to maintain the livability and vitality of our community. If there is anything of concern or interest to Laurelhurst neighbors, you can be sure that LCC is on top of it!

Villa Academy traces its roots to 1903, when the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart founded their first orphanage and school in Seattle on Beacon Hill. In 1914, Mother Cabrini (now St. Frances Xavier Cabrini) moved her mission to the Laurelhurst campus in Seattle, its current location. Villa’s two main buildings were designed by John Graham Sr. in 1924 and a gymnasium was added in the late 1950s. The school originally included an orphanage run by the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart until 1950. In 1951, the orphanage closed and the Sisters focused their efforts on an elementary school known as Sacred Heart Villa. In 1977, it became an independent private school and Seattle’s only Catholic independent preschool through eighthgrade school. Villa Academy’s Chapel was constructed in the mid- 1920’s and underwent extensive restoration in 1991. Today, the chapel is rented for weddings and used by students. www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Villa_Academy
