BIOPHILIC DESIGN
‘‘Nature is a good teacher. I am a child of hers, and apart from her precepts, I cannot flourish. I cannot work as well as she, perhaps, but at least I can shape my work to sympathize with what seems beautiful to hers…. Any building …. should be an elemental, sympathetic feature of the ground, complementary to its nature-environment, belonging by kinship to the terrain.’’ Frank Lloyd Wright.
wellness spa and resort
●The proposed site is the parcel of land at the end Bofa Beach road , Bofa Kilifi County . The project proposal is for a Biophilic Wellness Spa and Resort which will be the first of its kind in the region.
●It aims at providing an immersive, natural wellbeing experience designed for mental and physical relaxation. It will also set guidelines that will inform the future design of wellness spas and resorts in Kenya and increase the revenue. ●Wellness is more of sensory experiences. Understanding the need for sensory experiences and enhancing it through interactions with the surroundings is the cornerstone of wellness resort architecture. Wellness resort design has been evolving beyond the typical architecture and interior décor to a deeper understanding of the interdependency of nature and human beings.
●In the design world, biophilic approach means much more than adding a tree plant in the lobby or placing flowers in every room. It is about creating a sanctuary where people feel protected and healthy. An oasis where guest can find inner peace and joy surrounded by the beauty of nature.

●The landscaped courtyard offers a calm and protected place for children to play, and the new street is an informal meeting place.
CONSERVATION ARCHITECTURE
The Concept that governed the design is POROSITY. The idea was to open up the spaces on site using semi open corridors to mimic the network of narrow streets at Old Town.
