Widely celebrated in Sri Lanka, the Christmas festivities begin at dawn on December 1st when locals let off fireworks to mark the start of the (wonderfully warm and sunny) season. From that point on, there is so much happening in the lead up to Christmas Day, with families gathering, the preparation of cake and mince pies, and the hanging of decorations.
