Jerome H. Casey is the former president and chief operating officer of Sekisui Diagnostics, where his responsibilities included leadership of the global cross-functional organization, development and execution of the business strategy, and meeting the company’s short and long-term financial objectives.

Prior to the acquisition of Sekisui Diagnostics (formerly Genzyme Diagnostics) by Sekisui Chemical in 2011, Casey had worked at Genzyme Diagnostics for 21 years in various roles of increasing responsibility and held the position of senior vice president of global sales and marketing since 2003. Before joining Genzyme, he worked at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods as assistant vice president in fixed income sales and trading. He began his career at Abbott Laboratories as a sales representative.

Casey is currently active in several life sciences ventures, serving as an advisor and board member. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and an MBA from the University of Connecticut. He previously was a board member at Wide Horizons for Children, an international adoption agency based in Waltham, MA, and AdvaMed Dx, a Washington, D.C. based industry advocacy organization.

Casey was elected to Wentworth’s Board of Trustees in 2012.

Shereen Shermak is a founder of multiple Boston-based startups, most recently Dannce.ai, Nth Party (acq. MGNI) and Atlantic Quantum. She was previously a Boston-based venture capitalist, entrepreneur, and active angel investor. Previously, Shereen served as a Fund Manager and CEO at Launch Angels, a Boston-based seed stage VC firm, where she managed the Where Funds investments in 13 early-stage companies. Shermak co-founded BuysideFX, where she led Product and was a member of the management team. She additionally held a similar role at Boston-based Currensee (acq. Oanda).

Shermak’s early career consisted of launching internal fintech ventures for large financial services firms, after joining the technology strategy firm DiamondCluster (acq. PWC) in its early days. She also spent six years working as an environmental engineer after graduating from Duke University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Shermak received her M.B.A. from Sloan School at MIT and holds an M.P.A. from Harvard Kennedy School.

Jenna Eagan has completed a bachelor's degree in Interior Design with a minor in Project Management. She began her academic journey at Wentworth remotely before transitioning to campus life in her sophomore year. During her time at Wentworth, Jenna gained invaluable experience through co-op opportunities at two esteemed architectural design firms, SMMA and Page.

Jenna's passion for design and sustainability is reflected in her active involvement with the Student Association of Interior Design, the Wentworth Sustainability Society, and the Dean's Student Council. Upon graduation, she plans to remain in Boston, where she aspires to work at an architectural design firm, contributing her skills and creativity to the vibrant design community.

Danielle is graduating with a major in Computer Information Systems with a minor in Business Management and a Concentration in Project Management.

She started her co-op journey working as a Software Service Intern at Instron and completed her second co-op working at Apple in the Genius Bar on Boylston Street. Her third and final co-op was at Lockheed Martin working as an Information Technology Project Management Intern. After her third co-op, she continued to work at Lockheed Martin part-time and will transition to full-time post-graduation as a Project Management and Planning Operations Representative Associate.

She is a prominent student leader across campus such as in the Wentworth Student Government where she became the Student Government President during her third year and led the Women@Wentworth Undergraduate Leadership Board. She was awarded the first-year and third-year outstanding leadership awards and the leading leopard award and was nominated for the Wentworth Bowl. She was a part of a team of students who competed in the IACBE Case Competition in Memphis Tennessee where they not only won but achieved the highest score in the history of the competition.

Jennifer Medina is the daughter of two hardworking Honduran-born immigrants who came to America seeking a better life for their family. Born in New Bedford, Mass.,

Jennifer has always had a passion for the arts, whether it be creative painting, singing, or dancing. A creative career was a must.

Jennifer credits her career path to her older sister Nina, who studied architecture in a trade school. Jennifer’s fascination with houses and creative structures began at an early age. She cherishes memories of going to Home Depot with her father, watching HGTV reruns, and playing The Sims with Nina. After graduating with a degree in Interior Design and gaining experience in design firms, Jennifer's passion for design intensified. Jennifer hopes to work in a design firm soon and wishes to travel to fuel her love for design and architecture further.

Felicity Gonzalez is a rising senior majoring in Architecture at Wentworth. She is originally from Moorpark, California. Felicity is currently a Community Assistant on campus and will be a Senior Community Assistant this fall in Baker Hall. Her first co-op was in her hometown at the firm Fisher Architects where she worked on various commercial projects.

The academic procession and the regalia worn by the faculty, officers of the university, and students symbolize the continuing link between the modern American university and the founding of the great medieval universities in Europe.

The mace of the Institute symbolizes the authority invested in the president by the Board of Trustees and is borne by the president of the Faculty Senate.

The caps and gowns worn in the procession descend from medieval dress. The bachelor’s gown is a robe with long-pointed sleeves. Master’s gowns are arranged so that the arm emerges from a long sleeve through a slit at the wrist.

The mortarboard cap is the most common style and appeared in the 16th or 17th century. It usually has a black tassel attached. At Wentworth, the student wearing the red tassel is the Beatty Award recipient for having the highest grade point average of any graduate, and those wearing silver tassels are Alumni Award recipients being recognized for outstanding achievement.

Drawing inspiration from the hood on the habit worn by monks, the commencement hood demonstrates a student’s degree through its color:

Architecture – blue-violet

Business & Management – drab or tan

Engineering – orange

Industrial Design – dark brown

Interior Design – bilberry

Science – golden yellow

The lining of the hood, the portion most visible from the rear, indicates the institution awarding the degree — black and gold for Wentworth.

Solid-colored cords worn around the neck by students indicate that they graduated with honors. A gold cord indicates highest honors (summa cum laude), a red cord indicates high honors (magna cum laude), and a white cord indicates honors (cum laude). An orange cord represents the Engineering Honor Society; a navy and silver cord represents the Tri-Alpha Honor Society for first generation college students; and a red, white, and blue cord is worn by Veterans.

As part of the Commencement ceremony, international flags represent the countries and regions of our international students graduating today.
