Press release supplied by Games Press 16:42 25/08/2006 InfoSpace has won the new EIEF (Edinburgh International Entertainment Festival) Edge Mobile Award for its mobile game Dirty Sanchez. Readers of Edge magazine and Edge Online voted to chose the winner from four nominated mobile games developed by InfoSpace, Fountainhead Entertainment and id Software, Gameloft and Digital Chocolate. The EIEF Edge Awards reception at The Jam House, Queen Street, Edinburgh on Monday 21st August was presented by Edge Games editor Margaret Robertson. What Edge says: "Dirty Sanchez developed by InfoSpace. With an aggressively off-beat style and an understanding that micro-games are well-suited to a mobile gaming attention span, this is a game that instantly marked itself out from the crowd. However, what earned it a place on the shortlist was how well it takes advantage of its platform. Its suite of pass-the-phone microgames may only be diverting at best, but its forfeit system, which allows players to type in their own Jackass-inspired tortures for the losers, is something which could only work on a mobile." About the EIEF06 Edge Award & EIEF Edge Mobile Award: The EIEF06 Edge Award aims to reward games which expand expectations of what games are capable of. Drawn from games reviewed by Edge over the past year, the shortlist rewards neither commercial success, nor necessarily popularity, but instead highlights the games which have marked out innovative new paths or achieved new standards of excellence. This shortlist is then considered by an international panel of game industry insiders: people whose professional insight into games hasn’t dimmed their personal passion for playing them. This year, they are joined by a new prize, the EIEF Edge Mobile Award, in recognition of the fact that the overall quality of mobile game design has improved dramatically in recent years. Mobile games are synonymous with accessible, quick-fire gaming, so to reflect that, the EIEF Edge Mobile Award is voted for by readers of Edge and Edge Online. Contact:
