Welcome to the 2013

Todd Murphy, uncle of Wesleyan students Cody and Kristen Solomon, generously donated this piece of art to the Wesleyan Artist Market in honor of his passion for nurturing the artist in every child. 100% of the proceeds from the sale will go directly to benefit the Fine Arts programs at Wesleyan School. Murphy and his wife, Liane, are the proud parents of five children and both have a great heart for children and children’s causes. Lisa Berry works primarily with semi-precious gemstones, sterling silver, gold, and other accent materials to create beautiful, wearable art. She creates pieces that focus not only on the look, but also the feel of beautiful stories—nothing looks or feels better than wonderful gemstone beads against your skin. Lisa’s pieces are then accented with just enough sparkle in just the right places to really light things up! There are two things in life that give Lisa inspiration and fuel her creative side: first is her family—specifically her two sons, Evan and Eric (thus E & E Designs). Second is the ocean and everything that is in it, touches it, or can be found near it. Many of her pieces reflect the tropical blues and rich colors found above and below the water.

Jenny Schultz rediscovered her love of art after retiring from real estate in order

to raise three young children. She came from a family of artists and writers and had studied art in high school. Since that time she has become a working artist and while defined as self taught, she has studied with many nationally known painters. She credits Gary Bodner as a mentor and is influeneced by masters such as Lee Krasner, Willem De Kooning and Euan Uglow.

Jenny tells the story of everyday life through her paintings. Boots left on the back porch to dry, a hydrangea arrangement just cut from the garden or an old truck from her father’s farm all have beauty and a history for her to tell through her colors and simplicity of movement on the canvas. Texture, light and color are the three most compelling inspirations for her work. While creating, Jenny becomes a part of her canvas, scraping, digging, layering and glazing. The paintings invite the viewer to touch, feel and experience emotions of joy, peace, curiosity and happiness.

Marilyn Farnsworth Wendling’s zest for life and exuberance are evident in her Alla Prima (painting in one session) works in oil. Her command of light and color harmony takes place using a very limited palette. She has studied with noted artists Scott Christiansen, Ken Backhaus and Ken Auster, to name a few. Marilyn’s passion is translated into her sought after works which she exhibits in local and regional shows, juried competitions and in fine art galleries.

Children’s Market

Still in her studio is the “paint by number” Marilyn painted when just 4 years old. Decades were to go by before she would pick up another paint brush. Her working career was that of an executive secretary until a thoughtful birthday gift from her husband, of private painting instruction, would change her life and profession forever. In the many years since, Marilyn has established a full-time career as a fine artist by pursuing her passion with the zest, enthusiasm and drive for which she is known.
