LESLEY ROBLEDO: INSPIRING GREAT THINKERS

Lesley Robledo teaches English and language arts to middle school students, spending her days inspiring students to consider the perspectives of others through literature and writing. A native Houstonian, Ms. Robledo graduated from Houston Christian University in December 2020 and joined Westbury Christian when an unexpected position opened in January 2021. In a short time, she has established herself as an important part of the middle school team and a great advocate for students

"I think it’s important for students to understand that their thoughts matter, that their perspectives matter. A lot of the time, students just want to get the assignment done and move on to the next project.

"I try to create these opportunities for those moments when they’re uncomfortable with thinking. I tell them that if you’re uncomfortable in the situation because it’s forcing you to think, then you’re doing something right. Like that’s what we want. We want you to think. We want you to take the time to really become a part of what you’re learning and why it matters."
