OLIVIA — With seven starters returning, BOLD head coach Baylie Kubesh hopes to build off of last season’s 5-5 record. It was Kubesh’s first as head coach.

Kubesch and assistants Lexie Scott and Malissa Everson welcome back seniors Leslie Snow, Caylee Weber and Abby Meyers, juniors Mari Ryberg and Kilee Elfering and sophomores Delaney Tersteeg and Kenzie Visser.

Snow, an outside hitter, had 97 kills, 19 ace serves and 108 digs last season. She has 345 kills and 399 digs in her career.

“She is a smart player, always looking to make the play in the most efficient way,” Kubesch said. “(She’s a) great defensive player as well. She is a natural and smart volleyball player. …

“She is someone we will look for at all spots on the floor. We are looking for her to be a big leader for us this upcoming season.”

Weber, an outside/right-side hitter, had 75 kills, 12 ace serves, 10 blocks and 40 digs last season.

“Caylee is a very versatile player,” Kubesh said.

Ryberg, a middle blocker, had 44 kills, 21 blocks and 78 digs last season. Kubesh calls her “one of our hardest workers.”

Visser, also a middle blocker, had 32 kills and 25 blocks. “Kenzie is coming off a great freshman season,” Kubesh said. Tersteeg, a setter, had 135 set assists, 15 ace serves and 57 digs. “Over the summer, her connections with her hitters have only grown,” Kubesh said. “We are excited to see her grow more and more over the upcoming years.” Kubesh is optimistic about the Warriors’ chances.

“We are very excited to begin our preseason journey this year,” Kubesh said. “With last year being my first year with the program, there were a lot of adjustments and uncertainty with COVID. We are hoping to have amore normal year this year. We have a great group of returning starters and a lot of passion for the game. We expect big things from this group and believe in them and their abilities full-heartedly.”

BOLD will hit the court for the first time on Tuesday, Aug. 31 at Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City.
