OVERVIEW Job Title: ​Computer Teacher/I.T. Manager Reports To:​ Principal Position Status:​ Full Time Pay Structure: ​ Salary, starting pay is $28,000-$35,000 depending on experience Start Date:​ 2018-2019 School Year

JOB DESCRIPTION Western is looking for an energetic and motivated Computer Teacher / I. T. Manager who can manage computer networks, train teachers and educate students. The Ideal candidate for this dual role is a vocational educator in the field of computer science and related technological areas who excels in coaching and teaching students in the fundamentals of computer software, hardware and application. TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES ● Organize, maintain and manage class systems in proper working condition. ● Creates lesson plans that are appropriate for the age and abilities of the students in the class. ● Evaluates student performances based on their in class work and tests ● Provides informative feedback. ● Assigns special projects to students. ● Communicates students’ progress to parents, particularly regarding students who need tutoring or other extra assistance. ● Provides appropriate resources and learning materials for students. ● Identifies varying teaching methods that work best for students who learn differently.

Develops and updates curriculum for the classroom. Conducts research. Encourages creativity in students. Maintains accurate records of students’ progress in class and on examinations. Keeps order in the classroom and handles student behavior issues in accordance with school system policies. Maintains an orderly classroom stocked with appropriate supplies. Stays up-to-date on changes and advancements in computer technology taught in the classroom. Ensures that the internet in the classroom is used only for appropriate educational purposes. Posts grades and sends grade reports to parents as required by the school system. Design and develop appropriate computer instructional material. Manage and monitor student behavior.

I.T. RESPONSIBILITIES ● Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues our users encounter ● Manage the configuration and operation of client-based computer operating systems ● Manage and maintain school’s server farm ● Manage and maintain school’s network infrastructure ● Monitor the system daily and respond immediately to security or usability concerns ● Create and verify backups of data ● Educate and Train Staff ● Upgrade systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution ● Administrate infrastructure, including firewalls, databases, malware protection software and other processes ● Install and test computer-related equipment ● Oversee IT Budget ● Create Computer/Technology Hardware update and replacement plan ● Advocate IT upgrades with administration KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES ● Must have exceptional computer skills. ● Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. ● Must have knowledge of a wide range of computer technologies. ● Must have strong knowledge of networks and networking infrastructure.

Must have excellent troubleshooting skills. Must have excellent critical thinking and analytical skills. Must have strong organizational and time management skills. Must have good social networking skills. Must have understanding of computer monitors, central processing units, operating systems, hard drives and file storage. ● Must have strong public speaking skills. Must be detail oriented and mechanically inclined.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE ● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. ● Continuing education courses for keeping up with technological advancements. ● Preferred ○ Teacher’s License ○ Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a similar field. ○ Certification through the Computer Science Teachers Association or CSTA. ○ Job Experience
