Welcome Messages
Welcome from the PREMIER On behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan, I am pleased to welcome you to the 34th Western Canadian Crop Production Show at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon. The Western Canadian Crop Production Show has become the premier destination for producers from across Western Canada for timely and valuable information on the production, processing and distribution of food crops. This foremost crop production showcase also provides a great opportunity for farmers to share your passion for agriculture with stakeholders beyond the farm gate. Agriculture today has evolved into one of the most modern, and efficient industries in the world. And, with the ever increasing global demand for safe and reliable food, the opportunities for agriculture continue to grow;
Welcome from the Chair of the Board of Directors
Thank you to the organizers, sponsors and trade show exhibitors for making this show possible. To our national and international guests, we hope you have time to also take part in the many events being held throughout Saskatoon during Crop Production Week. Welcome and best wishes for an enjoyable show.
We in Saskatchewan have long known that we are stronger and can accomplish more when we work together, and this is proven again with Crop Production Show. This show brings together producers from different crop sectors to discuss shared interests and concerns – and drives our industry into the future by adopting best practices that enhance our business and improve yields while being profitable and sustainable.
Stu Irvine
Agriculture and The Crop Production Show is an important component of Prairieland’s mandate. On behalf of the Board of Directors, Management and Staff of Prairieland Park, I am very pleased to welcome you to the 2017 show. Thank you to the exhibitors, producers and patrons for your continued support.
Yet again, the show is sold out, as producer associations, the research community, industry and others with a keen interest in crop production come together for this annual event focusing on advancements relating to all major crops grown in Western Canada.
BOARD CHAIR Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation
Welcome from the Chair of the COMMITTEE Brad Wall
Welcome to the Western Canadian Crop Production Show. The 2017 show continues a tradition of providing farmers with access to the most advanced products and services in the industry.
PREMIER OF SASKATCHEWAN
Welcome from the Minister of Agriculture On behalf of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture, I would like to welcome you to the Western Canadian Crop Production Show – Saskatchewan’s leading grain industry show.
The 34th year of the Western Canadian Crop Production show will once again present leadingedge technology, services and products for grain producers from all across Saskatchewan, Western Canada, and the United States. This show provides a great opportunity for gaining and exchanging information plus developing new networks.
adding to the strength and vitality of Western Canada’s economy.
Each year we face new challenges, from maintaining public trust to unpredictable weather, and consistently we persist to overcome them. This past year was challenging for many producers, with wet fall conditions and an early snowfall delaying harvest. With continued investment in research and development in agronomic practices our producers prove resilient in the face of these challenges.
This year we welcome many of the Producer Organizations from both CropSphere and Crop Production Week to the Western Canadian Crop Production Show. Having everything combined at one location allows the event to evolve into the premiere crop production/marketing event of the year on the prairies.
Brian Sim CHAIRMAN
Crop Production Show Committee
WANT INCREASED
The Ministry of Agriculture is proud to support Crop Production Show and we want to thank the organizers, exhibitors and sponsors for once again bringing together some of agriculture’s best and brightest.
The very fact that you are here shows that you are part of the leading edge of the industry. You are the people that will help keep Saskatchewan’s agriculture industry a strong and driving force behind our provincial economy.
On behalf of the Western Canadian Crop Production Show committee, staff and volunteers, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the show and wish you the very best for 2017.

Midge tolerant wheat protects your crop against devastating pest damage, but it’s up to you to protect the technology. The Stewardship Agreement limits the use of farm-saved seed to one generation past Certified seed. It’s a simple step that keeps the interspersed refuge system at the proper level, preventing build-up of resistant midge.Without the refuge, we risk losing the one and only tolerant gene. There is no plan B. Protect this important tool. Plan for high yields and quality grades for years to come. Contact your retailer or visit www.midgetolerantwheat.ca.

Events overview for CropSphere & Crop Production Week FRIDAY, JANUARY 6
The biggest change for 2017 is that CropSphere is moving to Prairieland Park to take place in conjunction with the trade show. While there is a registration fee to attend CropSphere, there’s no registration charge to attend any of the annual meetings of the commodity groups that organize CropSphere. Some of the Crop Production Week information meetings and annual general meetings will be at Prairieland Park, but several are at the Saskatoon Inn. The Saskatchewan Soil Conservation Association meeting is at Western Development Museum and the main Sask Ag Grad event is at TCU Place. Please take note of the locations for the meetings you would like to attend. The best way to get all the latest meeting details is through the websites: www.cropweek.com and www.cropshere.com, but the following pages will provide the times and locations as well as the plan for speakers. CropSphere is organizing a free shuttle service between host hotels and Prairieland Park. Meanwhile, Crop Production Week is providing complimentary taxi vouchers for rides between Saskatoon Inn and Prairieland Park as well as Saskatoon Inn and Western Development Museum. See you in Saskatoon!
