THANKS. Most of the business outlets and services in the Peninsula recorded increased local support over the Christmas period as a direct result of the Shop Local national campaign this year. Dingle Business Chamber wishes to say a sincere Thank You to the local community for their support and hope that the Shop Local theme will continue as we can all help local jobs by considering local outlets and produce if at all possible. The town and surrounding area really looked very bright and cheerful with so many lights, trees and decorations in all commercial premises and private houses also. The Covid enforced absence of the Wren Parades, New Years Eve Fireworks Display and Fife & Drum Midnight Parade meant a quiet festive period in Dingle this year. However well done to the various Wren Groups who marked the occasion by playing a few tunes outside their home bases. Tradition continues in Dingle no matter how high the obstacles!!!. T.V. PROGRAMMES. The Dingle Peninsula certainly got a lot of positive publicity over the Christmas period with several T.V. programmes featuring local artists and topics as well as taking in some of our beautiful scenery. The Fungies Kingdom programme really got to the depth of the Fungie story and all the participants played their part in contributing to what perhaps was Fungies T.V. epitaph. If you missed any or all of the programmes i am sure you will catch up with them very soon as national television seems to repeat most programmes several times across all channels now. tragic accident while walking off Bulls Head last weekend. A word of thanks to all the emergency services personnel both on land and at sea who took part in the recovery of his body in such sad circumstances. MASS. Weekend Masses at 8p.m on Saturdays and 11.30a.m. on Sundays will be available on St Mary's Church Webcam until the present Covid restrictions are lifted. However the church is open daily for personal visitation and patrons are requested to follow the guidelines outlined at the entrance porch. ROAD SAFETY. We appeal to all road users to take care when travelling no matter what the weather conditions or forecast predicts. A good number of cyclists, runners and walkers still do not wear high vis clothing particularly on the country roads and contribute in providing a serious danger to themselves and other road users also. High vis clothing is not very expensive and is readily available in local outlets. COVID RESTRICTIONS. Under present guidelines we are requested to exercise within a 5km limit of our homes. I was deeply dissappointed to see on social media last weekend prominent people posting pictures of their activities well beyond the limits here in the Peninsula. I wish through these notes to appeal to everybody to show good example and help prevent the rampant expansion of the virus by curtailing your social activities as much as possible at least for the next few weeks.

Happy New Year to all friends of Kerry Hospice Foundation - West Kerry. Thank you to everyone for your support again during 2020. Despite the situation last year fundraising was better than initial gloomy expectations - we are still on track to cover our bills. We are so grateful to all of you who organised an event, took part or donated to the Foundation. To all our supporters, our volunteers and to the Staff of Kerry Hospice who provide such a wonderful service we wish you good health and hope for brighter days ahead! We also remember anyone who is no longer with us, someone who is fighting an illness or who has overcome an illness and of course their families.
