For over 20 years, Westminster Teak has been the embodiment of the finest in teak furniture for its design, materials, and craftsmanship. Our unrelenting commitment to quality and passion for timeless design has been the narrative and hallmark driving the company forward. Today, our furniture is seen in some of the finest hotels, resorts, private clubs, and residences throughout the world, including Camp David for The White House!

Passion and pride goes hand in hand with quality and craftsmanship. Every piece of our furniture is made by employees trained in their craft at our factory. We’ve embraced technology to provide the best in what it has to offer without sacrificing traditional methods like mortise-and-tenon joinery with the strictest of tolerances, meeting international industry standards. Only the finest quality premium grade, plantation-grown teak is used in the manufacture of our furniture.

Design plays a fundamental part in the philosophy and narrative of our company. While retaining a select few from the “old classics, our design team is constantly working to create furniture that evokes simple sophistication and casual elegance. Our furniture designs are as timeless and enduring as the teakwood they are made from .

All of the teak used in the manufacturing of our furniture is from sustainably harvested plantations under the strict management of the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry. Our factory was the first to join Nusa Hijau, the Indonesian Chapter of the Global Forest Trade Network (GFTN), an initiative of the WWF (World Wildlife Fund). It was created to eliminate illegal logging, promote biodiversity, and to improve the management of threatened forests and the livelihoods of the people that depend on them. Today, we are also SVLK and FSC certified, ensuring that the wood we use can always be traced back to its origin.

TEAK AND RAINFOREST PRESERVATION As one of the leading manufacturers and distributors of teak furniture in North America, Westminster Teak recognizes the influence it plays on the industry and the impact it has on the environment specifically in regard to forest conservation and management.

Verification and Legality We have made it our company's policy to source our teak wood from well managed, credibly certified forests. Our factory is a certified manufacturer under the Timber Legality Assurance System (TLAS), assuring the legality of products from point of harvesting, transporting, trading, and manufacturing through the Wood Legality and Verification System (SVLK ). SVLK (Wood Legality and Verification System) verification ensures that export of timber products complies with Indonesian forestry laws and is designed to stop illegal logging, establish a culture of using legal products, and contribute to sustainable forest management. We purchase teak wood only from Perum Perhutani, plantations managed by the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry, which promotes biodiversity and the livelihoods of the people that depend on them. And, because it is the only source in our supply chain for teak wood base material, we have 100% transparency; we know exactly where all of our teak lumber comes from for every component of our furniture; from the forest-floor to retail floor.

Responsible Forest Management Teak wood does not grow naturally in the rainforest in any sufficient numbers to warrant commercial logging in the way Pine does. Historically, the Dutch started teak wood plantations in Indonesia, perhaps, some 200 years ago and the government of Indonesia has since taken over and developed it to what is today the world's largest teak plantation, managing nearly 13 million acres of sustainable forests. Through careful and responsible forest management, trees are constantly being planted at a rate that far exceeds those being felled. Because teakwood is, by far, a slow growing crop, the Perum Perhutani managed system incorporates agro-forestry for the locals to farm other crops between the alleys or rows of planted teak trees, throughout the life cycle of the trees. This process provides the locals additional economic avenue along with the industry brought about by the teak enterprise to the local economy.
