Menu and other recommendations

Besides pizza, P&D has all of the Italian staples and much more. There are appetizers, Italian wedges, standard pastas, specialty pastas such as the Tortellini Pesto mentioned above, Fettuccine Alfredo ($10.95) and Penne ala Vodka ($11.95), beef, veal, pork, chicken, eggplant and seafood entrées. I can recommend the Mussels fra Diavolo over angel hair ($11.95), which was spicy and flavorful, and the lasagna ($7.75), a huge slice of the Italian meat and cheese dish topped with tons of melted mozzarella cheese. I’m anxious to try some of the many shrimp dishes such as the Shrimp Primavera ($16.95), jumbo shrimp sautéed in garlic and olive oil with fresh vegetables served over pasta, Shrimp Scampi ($14.95) or Stuffed Shrimp ($15.95). Besides the extensive regular menu, there are daily dinner specials such as Shrimp and Sole Francese ($15.95) or Pasta Contadina ($12.95), hot or sweet Italian sausage cooked with mushrooms, onions, peppers, broccoli, zucchini

Hours, parking, etc.

P&D Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria is open six days a week from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. Parking is in a private lot next to the strip of stores on Bowman Avenue at the Port Chester/Rye Brook line in which the restaurant is located or on the street. While always welcoming new customers, the owners treat their regulars with the kid gloves they deserve. For instance, while they don’t deliver as a rule, they occasionally make an exception for those who frequent the establishment on a regular basis. And they stayed open after hours for a Port Chester Middle School cast party last Saturday night at the request of a regular customer. How has business been the last 33 years? “I can’t complain,” co-owner Zafrin said. “I have put two through college and one is still going.” “I’m as busy as I really want to be,” he added. “When you get too busy, you can’t give the right product.”
