El Palacio de los Mariscos: Peruvian seafood and more onion, cilantro and corn—a delicious combination. For entrée, the Pescado en Salsa con Camarones (fish with shrimp sauce at $13) was an excellent choice. A healthy portion of crispy fried pollack filet was topped with at least eight good-sized shrimp in a red creamy seafood sauce. A portion of white rice came on the side. Everything was served on a large wooden platter in the shape of a fish. New fish platters are on order from Peru, said Ricci. The Camarones al Ajillo (shrimp with garlic sauce at $13) was disappointing. A good number of decent-sized shrimp were served on the same fish platter with white rice on the side, but the sauce was bland and the shrimp looked lost on the large plate. The Pollo Saltado ($8), a typical Peruvian dish that combines strips of chicken, sautéed onions, tomatoes and French fries, was delicious, and the Pollo Apanado ($8.50), a large piece of breaded fried chicken served with rice and salad or rice and French fries (too much starch for me) was a hit with my 10-year-old who wanted to order it again when I returned for takeout. A basket of Italian rolls and butter were served with the meal. It was my first and last time trying the dreadful red Kola Inglesa. Flan ($2.50) was the only choice for dessert al-

Co-owner Raul Ricci, accompanied by waitress Maria Broudwiack of Port Chester, pours a soda at the bar. El Palacio de los Mariscos has applied for but not yet received a liquor license. In the meantime, customers may bring their own bottle if they wish.
El Palacio de los Mariscos offers a daily lunch special for $7 which includes soup or salad, entrée, soda and dessert. An example of a lunch special might be Pescado a la Chorrilano (fried fish with rice over fried onions and tomatoes). If you prefer something other than seafood, agreed partners Lardiga and Ricci, you can choose from any other entrée on the menu. The soup du jour might be crab or fish soup, for instance, but another may be substituted if it’s not to your liking. The restaurant is open seven days from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Parking is on the street or in the rear of the building.
