2021
A Letter From the Ladies Executive Dear Ladies, On behalf of the Ladies Executive, I would like to wish you a warm welcome to the 2021 season and hope that you enjoy golf, friendship and good times at Weston again this year. Once again, we will not be able to have a regular Ladies Events schedule, but we have been able to schedule all of the events from 2020 plus a few more, including a couple of Inaugural ones. All of the exciting details are included in this Captain's Guide. Please familiarize yourself with the details of these events and other pertinent information. Download this booklet onto your devices or print it as a reference to use throughout the season. I encourage you to sign up for as many events as you can, as they can only be successful with your participation. Also make sure you have downloaded the Weston App and the Golf Genius App, both of which make it easier for Members to manage their membership and golf activities and for our Professional Staff to support the members in events and tournaments. If anyone would like assistance with managing these Apps, please reach out to Lindy Williams, Deb Hajekerou, Janet Quinn or myself and we will be more than happy to guide you. If you have any questions regarding any of the information found in this Guide, please reach out to myself, Deb Hajekerou – Vice Captain, Mary Holzscheiter – President or Lindy Williams, our Pro Shop Liaison. We look forward to a wonderful golf season on a terrific course with great friends. See you on the course and the patio!
Lise English, on behalf of the 2021 Ladies Executive

Handicap Information Entering Scores - Hole by Hole Golfers are responsible for entering their scores. To ensure that Net Double Bogey adjustments are applied correctly, please input hole by hole Gross scores. All golf scores will be equally weighted within an individual's handicap.
2020 Changes - Net Double Bogey The maximum hole score for each player will be limited to a Net Double Bogey. This adjustment creates a higher level of consistency when compared to Equitable Stroke Count. The Net Double Bogey calculation is: Par + 2 + Handicap Strokes
Terms of Golf Stroke Play: Refers to a round of golf in which the score is kept hole by hole until the ball is holed out. At the end of the round the strokes are added together for the total number of strokes played. Match Play: A competition format played straight-up (GROSS) or with handicap strokes (NET) on a hole-by-hole basis. The score is kept not by the strokes made, but by the number of holes won. If each golfer/team has won the same number of holes, the match is said to be “all square”. If you have lost 3 holes and there are 3 holes to play, you are “dormie” – therefore, you must win the next 3 holes to tie, and continue the match. Scramble: A team competition whereby all players tee off. The team then selects the next ball to be played. All team members hit the next shot from where the selected ball lies. This continues until the ball is holed out. Usually in this format, the team must use each golfer's drive 3 times during the course of play. Step Aside Scramble: A team competition whereby all players tee off. The team then selects the next ball to be played. If your ball is selected, you “step aside” and do not hit the next shot. This format continues until the ball is holed out. Alternate Shot: A foursome competition that is comprised of two 2-person teams playing against each other using the following formats as examples: 1) As a twosome: The players on the two-person team alternate hitting the same ball until it is holed out. It is decided between the partners A and B on the first hole who tees off first on each hole. They select A's ball. They walk to A's ball and B hits the second shot using A's ball. They alternate hitting the same golf ball until it is holed. 2) Odds and Evens: The competition format is almost identical to “alternate shot”. The difference is that player A hits the tee shots on even holes, her partner (Player B) hits the tee shots on the odd holes. Stableford: The scoring system where the winner is the golfer who has scored the most points. Stableford scoring is used for our Tuesday League 9-holes and all TorWest competitions. The scoring is: Net bogey: one (1) point Net Birdie: three (3) points Net Albatross: five (5) points
Net Par: two (2) points Net Eagle: four (4) points Hole in One: ten (10) points
412 Information AUGUST
Pace of Play Policy Our rules and regulations have been amended to include a “Pace of Play” policy.
TIME PAR
Acceptable pace of play is 4 hours and 12 minutes or less. It is the responsibility of the entire group to play within time par (4:12). Players are responsible for recording and submitting their playing time. There is a formal procedure for noncompliance, which for offenders may include restriction or suspension of playing privileges.
Helpful tips to assist with pace of play Play ready golf (with the exception of tournament and match play). Putt out if you’re not interfering with another player’s line. Ask if you may finish out, take a moment to read the putt, and go ahead with your stroke even if someone else is further away. Drop your ‘cart companion’ off at her ball and proceed to your ball, or grab a few clubs and walk to your ball. Be sure to keep out of the line and sight of other players’ shots. Think about your next shot so that when you get to your ball, you are ready to hit. After hitting a shot, be sure to watch the ball as long as possible, marking its position with a landmark (e.g. to the left of the small tree). If a player hits from one bunker to another, offer to rake the sand for her so she can continue playing her next shot. Chat after you hit your shot, or while you’re walking to your ball.

Golf EVENT dETAILS Tuesday Stableford League This is a great way to play with friends and engage in socially distanced friendly competition! For $5 per week, book a tee time anytime on a Tuesday and compete in this summer-long individual Stableford competition. Please note that participation is optional and you can sign up for as many (or as few) Tuesday games as you like. Your front nine Stableford score will be used to calculate your total. Please note that you must putt out every hole. Live scoring via Golf Genius will be utilized during each round. This allows us to adhere to contactless & paperless scoring, and it’s a fun way to follow your friends. 1. Remember, League play begins Tuesday, May 11th . 2. Individuals are responsible for booking their own tee time. 3. Go to the app store on your Android/Iphone, search for "Golf Genius" (which is the orange Icon). Download the Golf Genius App onto your cell phone. The weekly code will be posted each Tuesday at the Starters Hut for you to sign in. 4. You will submit your gross front nine score for each hole on the Golf Genius app, don't forget to press "save score" on the screen. You will then be directed to the next hole. 5. Enter your score for all holes played at Weston via Golf Canada for your handicap. 6. Your Weston account will be charged $5 each Tuesday you play. 7. The top scores from each flight will be awarded Professional Shop credits. Winners will be announced following play.
