01/ DE LA PLAYA COASTAL CENTER Valencia, Spain Graduate Design Studio 2018

My 5th year thesis entails a year long endeavor that began by designing a proposal for a new master plan of the Poblats Maritims district of Valencia, Spain. This was then followed by selecting a site within the district to define buiding program in which to design a thoughtful work of architecture. The presently displayed work is my current design following the conceptual design phase of my individual project. The selected sight was predominately desolate, with only a few recreational sports being run out of shacks. My proposal offers a permanent structure for these businesses while adding other community oriented program, including a multipurpose events space, auditorium, conference, and classrooms.

The Falls Brewery was a design proposal for two small town locals seeking to further develop their current operations with a two-in-one facility, which can house all brewing operations, while being utilized as a brewpub. My proposal offered an open connection between all public spaces, supplying the small town sense that a project of this nature should provide. The entirety of the brewing operations are housed within a hierarchical bar being emphasized with the use of concrete material, opposed to the steel materials employed elsewhere in the design. This bar possesses transparency with the use of glass both from the front facade of the building, and on the interior, giving clues to the process of which beer goes through before making its way to the consumer.

03/ PROSTHETICS FABRICATION LAB Kansas City, MO Undergrad Design Studio 2016

The objective of this project was to change the mindset that receiving an artificial limb is a defect. Not only are prosthetics unobstructive, they even have the ability to go beyond ordinary human capabilities. My design revolved around an exterior centralized courtyard. This space encouraged clients to test out and gain confidence of their new gear in privacy before embarking out into the world. The visible connection between the courtyard and all other programmatic spaces would invigorate those inside to venture outwards and take pride in their newfound identities.

04/ DALLAS PUBLIC LIBRARY Dallas, TX Undergrad Design Studio 2015

This project created several challenges to resolve. The building needed to act as a monumental structure while achieving a variety of programmatic needs. The program had a multitude of spaces, in which needed to provide a distinct uniqueness about them. The site, with a limited amount of space, was located near the business district of Highland Park and the Dallas Country Club. My expression for this came by designing up. The library has five unique categories of program. Each of these given their own floor, connected by a centralized atrium allowing for a visual connection between levels. All program and circulation revolve around this central core. This new iconic symbol to its region of Dallas, with clear purpose and plan, is an explicit response to the desires of the project.

This project was a multipurpose building that would function as a cafe, art museum, private studio, & apartment. The clients were to be a couple that would live within the building, run and operate the cafe, as well as create their own art, in which would be put on display in the museum space. I began my parti with two cubes on opposing ends of the site that would function as the public and private sectors respectfully. These two modules are connected by a suspended catwalk, overlooking both an interior atrium, and an exterior courtyard. This open middle ground allows for a connection between the public and private.

06/ Artist Studio House

Manhattan, KS Undergrad Design Studio 2014

The Visiting Artist Studio House was a first year project with a unique program. There would be two individuals dwelling here, one of which is a metals sculptor. The design needed to provide him with an industrial studio for his work. The houses design ended with a double function, a home, as well as exhibition gallery. The private studio space would have the means to swing open into the exterior courtyard upon completion of the project. This courtyard would be highly transparent from the interior allowing maximum visibility to the newly displayed artwork.

Digital renderings are an important aspect to contemporary architecture. Being able to successfully portray ideas through photo realistic images can bring to life creations only before imagined. Above and below are two renderings displaying a proposed minimalist house design nestled into a snow covered mountainous region.
